Looks like my backyard - my wife feeds them thar critters! For no reason than to just watch them eat!

WE have sometimes 7 sometimes 14! We get to see the little ones too. Now this is going on inside the middle part of a small town of about 6000 people! Hell they are becoming like squirrels! They are everywhere!

Yep, when I tried to use feeders I quickly learned to cover everything plastic with hardware cloth. I wasn't using those kit feeders, I was using plastic trash cans with just the feeder motor attached to it. You'll need to patch that with something and use some silicone to seal it up to keep the rain out. I liked using flashing with self drilling screws to cover those holes.

I haven't used feeders for many years now. Never really worked right, either the deer would eat it up too quick or it would just pile up and rot, plus the deer never got comfortable with the thing sitting there. Now I just dump a bag of cob corn once a week, works a lot better and cheaper too. Still it's rare for me to kill a deer at bait, most come from the fields.

My feeder uses a 5 gal pail. Came with a snap on lid which was quickly changed to a screw on. Squirrels immediately went to work on chewing through the lid- they never got in, but ruined the o-ring seal on two lids. Then I took a piece of .040 polished aluminum diamond plate from the raw stock stash and made a disc to cover the lid & no more problems. It has one single bite mark- don't think they like the taste or feel of aluminum.

A friend lives just inside city limits. Two gardens. On near house fir himself and one for th critters.

Last fall and early winter there was a population of deer standing in a pumpkin patch. Un-harvested and left for them i guess.

I put mine on a cable between 2 trees and one end on a winch. It soleved this problem and also the bear problem. Nothing makes your heart beat faster than a bear looking at you 15 foot away

Checked my game camera last weekend. I must be doing something right, lots of deer pictures and no more dogs (the neighbors, long story).

I've harvested one doe in the 4 years we've owned the property (22 acres). No deer at all when purchased, but I've been doing food plots and mineral blocks. seems to be working.

I like to think that the bobcat is helping me with my hog problem.
Problem is he's probably after the little one's same as me.
I've probably posted hogzilla before but here he is again.

Josef - are those feral hogs from a domestic origin?

I notice they all have the same dark color. Seems like I saw the domestics, once feral, go back to their European "Boar" look, actions, etc.

We have had wild hogs up here, rumor was some boars got loose from a hunting preserve. A deer hunter got a 350 pounder near the preserve later. That was 5+ years ago. Our NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation said small game license only required to take them, and no limit or tag. Really wanted to squelch the population quick.

But haven't heard much last couple years. Might be too cold up here, which is a good thing. Damn destructive....

Always wanted to shoot a couple (or a bunch) of those.....;)

What are they - maybe 150 +/- pound each?

There are a lot of Feral Domestic and it dramatically
changes from group to group. Some passels of hogs
are heavily tusked. This particular group runs around
150 lb each. Did you look at some of the earlier pictures.
I have attached a picture of Hogzilla again. Just guessing,
I believe he would come close to 350 and a passable amount
of that weight would be testacles.

I filter through 50K pictures a year as my cameras run from mid summer through first of March.

This is on of my favorites from this year.

Nice bird!,, Up here in Pa the Game Commission issued a shoot to kill order for wild hogs, in some county's. Rumor has it a game farm ( pay to hunt) was going tits up and just let the hogs out,, So they got shot most of them anyways I never saw one but hey ya never know

Lots of hogs here in NC, luckily we don't have any on the farm we hunt.

In one night they can destroy a food plot after a rain.

Number of my friends have them on there property nearly impossible to get rid of them. They attempt to trap, shoot, and run them but no good solution.

The hogs up to 100 lbs are pretty good to eat but
you have to clean them and get them on ice right
away. I've been told to leave them on ice for 5 days
and constantly drain the water off. So far I haven't
done it any other way.
.
Here in Tx you don't even need to have a license to hunt them
as long as you have been invited by the property owner to take
care of destructive hogs. You don't even need to pick
them up, just shoot and let them lay.

I personally wasn't brought up that way so I shoot and
get them on ice as the Vietnamese community will take them.
I've been told repeatedly to shoot them in the guts
so that they run off and die on someones else's property.

I can't bring myself to do that and doubt I ever will.
