Recently bought my first tractor. 2012 BX1860 with 117hrs and 54”MMM. Finally got around to starting my landscaping with a friends borrowed mini excavator a borrowed dump trailer and the BX with a box blade.

My question is about mowing. Are these MMM meant to hang from the tractor at which ever setting I choose on the dial. Or do I drop the deck until it hits the ground then use the wheels on the deck to set the height? Or can it be a combo of either one depending on the height of grass I want?

There are two kinds of setups.....ones that ride the ground and ones that "float" at a height - YOURs is the floater - the wheels keep it from digging / help it rise when hitting a small bump. On your machine the depth is controlled with the knob under the seat - and dont necessarily trust the dial if you are particular to what exact height you are wishing to cut.

The BX mmm hangs at whatever postion you chose. I would adjust the wheels so they are not riding on the ground, those cheap anti-scalp wheels wont last long otherwise. My understanding is the B series is the opposite, set the wheels for height and rides on the ground.

It's supposed to hang. First set your height you want on a level surface /then adjust the anti-scalp wheels 1/4 to 1/2 inch up from the surface.

Sold my X, but, as I recall, you only turn the knob clockwise and then only with the three point control lift it to the top position. Don 't try to turn the knob if mower (via the three point) is not at full top position. Then lower to where it stops for mowing.
