Mower deck

Im a new tractor owner. Just got my 2601 this week. question about the mower deck. I have a HLA bale spear on the back 3 pt. hitch. When I go to lower the mower deck the bale spear goes down also. How can I lower the deck and not the bale spear? If possible.

And why would you need or want a bale on the back when your mowing?

The 3 point on my BX25 is not independent from Mid mount mower arms. There is no way to use each independently. I imagine yours is the same way.

There is a way to lock up the deck and/or deck linkage while operating the 3 pt. But there is no way to do the converse.

Like I said I just got my tractor this week. Yes I have a bale spear on the back. I use it to move round bales. I guess I could take it off before I mow. I did realize there is a lock nut I can adjust that blocks the lever used to lower and raise the deck and bale spear. If i set in around 4-5 the spear only goes down alittle but the deck goes all the way down.

If you bought new there should be a manual for the mower deck. It will explain the process for locking the mower deck to be able to use three point independently

Like has been said.....you can lock the deck up, but you can't lower it without the 3 point going down.

What I do is put them all the way up, then when mowing just lower until the deck bottoms out then stop it there. That way my quick hitch still stays up quite a bit.

In other words.....don't leave your 3 pt. lever in the down position.....just lower the deck and stop it.
