The $100 for a set of mower deck axles was a bit hard to swallow, so I created my own for far less. I'm not much of a metal fabricating guy, so I came up with this:
12x18 furniture dollies.
Metal pipe from Menards
Scrap wood
Screws.
Cut the metal pipe to 12"
Drilled holes in pipe to put the scalper pins in
A couple of scrap pieces of wood to create a slot on the dolly
Piece of scrap screwed down across the top to keep it secure.
I wasn't sure if 12" would be tippy, but it wasn't, backup plan was to rotate them to 18" wide, but 12 seems to be working.
