I have a loud banging under my mower deck, when mid PTO is engaged. All looks good, belts pulled etc. Any ideas?

Raise the tractor up, turn the blades by hand from below the deck. You probably have a blade contacting the lip at the bottom of the deck side sheet.

Tell us more. We need more info. When did it start, did it happen while you were mowing, or after you had the mower off and re-attached it ?

Check and confirm the driveshaft is connected at both ends and not just the pto shaft.

A similar problem was happening on another tractor forum, and it turned out to be a broken U joint on the driveshaft.

The driveshaft was just laying on the deck and spinning when the pto was engaged.
