Yes I changed it on the BX *&%^&*#()(!*#!#^%*,,,,,, Anyway I stopped to the dealer and talked to one of the guys I know there been there since forever, And I told him what I was thinking of doing we looked at a B and he said instead of running a line back to the pick up pump and them through the front filter maybe move the pump to eliminate that extra plumbing. Makes sense to me but then I started thinking maybe over thinking it ,but would there be any issue with pressure or anything? So instead of having it under the chassis maybe in the engine compartment,,,,
SO experts what say you?

Dodge, with their 5.9, had the lift pump mounted on the engine. They had problems with that setup. The pumps are made to push fuel not suck fuel. Also the heat and vibration from the engine shortened the life of the LP.

I ended up installing a better pump on the frame rail, just ahead of the fuel tank, with a ball valve so it could be serviced without a bath. Also installed a fuel pressure gauge. No problems since those modifications.

Based on that experience, I don't think I would relocate a LP to the engine area of any diesel engine, unless it was the ONLY option. YMMV

One of the reasons I believe that it's mounted where it is, is because if you move it above the fuel line level it won't prime. ;)
