Ok I know this has gone down before but, I went to tractor supply for oil for my BX 2360, and they gave me a jug of All Fleet Diesel Engine Oil,, with the following
API,CJ-4/SM.CJ-4 PLUS,CI-4,CG-4,CF
Now the book calls for CF, so is this better than just plain old CF, or what, and will I muck up the motor if I use it??? Anybody

It's fine. Use a quality diesel oil, and more imortantly than WHICH oil you use, service it on a routine basis. Routine is more important than which oil, or which kind (dino/synthetic).
I change mine like clockwork- always have. Interestingly, a neighbor has an 86 Honda TRX 350 four wheeler, which has never had the oil changed in it. It is black, but still runs like a top. He is hard on everything he has- he'd bend an anvil. I won't stop changing my oil on a routine basis, but it makes you wonder if we don't throw away zillions of gallons of good oil...

I never throw away used oil oil, I use it in my chain saws and line trimmers and outboard motors, I run it thru a filter and use it for both chain oil and to mix with the gas, I know its not the same as the marketed 2 cycle engine oil but I have been doing this since the 1960's, I have gone thru a few saws and trimmers but nothing other than normal wear and tear

After having to use at the quarry I think all the recycled oil that is collected has the chunks strained out and is resold as Castrol Tection diesel oil.

In my humble opinion brand does matter.
I put 25,000 hrs on a Cat 980 G loader using Mobil 15w40. It was serviced every 250 hrs and used Cat filters. The last count I heard the machine was still running with over 30,000 hrs.

An identicle machine using Castrol Tection 15w40 with the same service intervals and also using Cat filters spun the bearings at just over 7,000 hrs.

Engine replacement cost was just shy of 30K because the block wasn't damaged. If the block was hurt the cost was going to double.

Did the brand of oil matter? Can't say.
If the repair cost was coming out of my pocket. I wouldn't want to take the chance. Brand matters to me, but that just my 2 cents.
