MMM blade bolt torque

Have 60 inch MMM on BX and specs says from memory 80 -90 or plus sum for blade bolt torque.

The question is do not have impact gun torque adapter I just tightened until it stopped moving with impact gun.

With air compressor of 3 CFM and gun rating of 480 lb at 5.5 CFM assume from farmer gut feeling is doing around 100 to 150 lb.

Should I be concerned over tighten?

Just remember you have to take them off some time! I dont use an air gun just a 1/2 socket and i go with a grunt and a half never had one come loose yet. but then I havent broken a bolt yet either

Torque gun reverse strength is usually greater then forward for that reason.

I suppose worst case I strip and buy new part.

Be nice if the had pin lock in case slips off...

Yes. The tightness of the bolt determines how much pressure is applied to the bevel washer which determines the "slip" allowed if the blade hits something. Too tight and the blade can't slip if it hits an unmovable object.

Yep, I hit a boat anchor several years ago and luckily I had mine torqued properly, I never tighten with an impact wrench, always use a manual torque wrench. I loosen with one though.

If needed, you can buy torque sticks.

I agree - a grunt and a half......now some grunts are better than others!

I don't think the blade will slip as easily as the belt driven pulley. I torque mine 80 ft lb. I don't trust doing it with an impact gun or a grunt and a half.

The pancake air compressor with external 10 gallon tank only got it to 60 lb. so I ended up having to tighten to which I went to the max range of 86lb.

Took a few grunts I must be getting weaker.
