Our vets are the best! I work at the OR at our local VA hospital and cannot imagine a better patient population. I am lucky in that everyday I go to work, I get to celebrate Memorial Day.

A profound thanks to all of you out there in OTT that have served our country. You are the best of America!

Memorial Day to remember those that gave their all for our freedom being a Vietnam vet ( 4 tours) I have so many friends whose names are in the wall a never had the chance to grow old . My prayers to them and their families . My hope is that more Americans would respect and understand what Memorial Day is all about . It’s because of these brave men and women that you can grill your hamburgers and enjoy the weekend

check 6 , too many of us have brothers on that wall, bless them all. And some ones that never get the recognition they so richly deserve are the nurses. They held our hands fixed our booboos and in some cases were the last ones we saw. And they unfortunately have fallen by the way side. I sometimes wish, I could go back in time and give each and every one that I came in contact with in 1970, a hug and say thank you.

you can’t give them a hug but you can honor their memory by teaching the young and sometimes not so young generations about these young men and women that go all the way back to the revolution who willfully gave of their future to insure others had one. If you don’t mind let me share a story
years after Vietnam when our son was at the Air Force Academy, he called one night to say his class had decided to wear POW/MIA bracelets and he wondered if I knew the name he randomly drew. He gave me the name and my reply was this officer was shot down and never recovered in Laos flying. Single ship forward air control mission. Well as I told him this officer was in my flight school class and in our wedding . He is still carried as MIA . I as a single ship forward air controller in north vietnam a could, but for the grace of God met the same fate. Those lost and those that spent years in the hell hole as POWs are the true hero’s in my book and need to be honored and remembered ….. of just an old soldier soon to fade away talking

My former wife's father Henry Brauner was shot down over Laos in March 29th of '72 on a C130, never recovered ... Had a formal ceremony in 2010 IIRC at Arlington ... I don't think most people realize how much it effects the children of those that don't come home, her and her mother were notified on her 10th birthday ...

I put up a new flag every May, and hang a bunting on my garage ...

check 6, about 7 years ago, I wound up in the ER for an emergency colostomy, woke up a week later in ICU. While in the ER a smallish redhead nurse was doing all the important stuff on me. And making small talk lead to the fact she was in the Army reserves as a nurse, and did 3 tours in the middle east. My Daughter who was called in, told me later on after the morphine took effect, that I told everybody else in the room to get the F out, Doc will take care of me. My Daughter said, the NP put his hand on his hip and said she is NOT a doctor. And I told him, she has seem more , done more, and seen more death in her 3 tours than he ever would in his time at the hospital. She even stopped up at ICU a couple times, and told me that no one has ever stood up for her like that. A shame really.

Damn straight! I'd rather have an experienced Corpsman work on me than any new young doctor.

22 years USMC!
