I want to get a no til drill. Specifically a land pride 3p606nt or the Great Plains version 3p605nt drill.
I found a used drill with all three boxes that weighs 2700 lbs
A drill without the nwsg box weighs 2400lbs.
The Mx5800 has a 3 point lift capacity of
2310 lbs 24” from the pins. I also found a guy on your tube running the mx5800 with the 2400 lb option drill and said his tractor lifted it but barely.
The only reason I’m looking at the mx5800 is because I found a used one locally and I can get a really good trade in on my pretty much new L4701. Should I trade go with this route, or spend significantly more money and by a new M7060, which I really don’t want to spend the money on. I also use my tractor for logging quite a bit so the hst transmission is really nice in the woods.

F(moment about a point)=(load)x(distance) Your rated lift will drop off dramatically as you go further than the rated 24"

You consider a drawbar seed drill?

I have, but I need to be able to trailer the drill and the tractor easily to go between properties. I have no idea how easily I could back a pull type implement of a trailer.

How far are the properties? The pull type are usually roadable with lights. What type of trailer do you have? I think you would be fine with that 3 point empty. You just wont be able to lift loaded. (think turns/passes/transport)

I seems like it would be too heavy with seeds. Reading a bit of the manual, they don’t recommend transporting with full boxes due to steering issues. You are also just on the edge of the HP requirements.

One other thought, NRCS in a lot of areas rent no till drills. In my area, they typically rent ones that require 35HP. I don’t know what brand they are.

Your L4701 will lift as much as the MX5800 going by those numbers you posted for the MX. But, I don't think you'll be happy running that drill unless you get a heavier M class tractor. I have all the weights i can fit on the front end of my L4701 just to keep positive steering traction when I lift my FDR3690 finish mower and it's half that weight.

p.s. "M class" meaning the M6060 or above.
p.p.s. Unless the HST has a cruise control you'll want a gear drive tractor that goes a certain speed when in the gear/rpm of your choosing for planting. Every drill/planter I know of likes to be operated a specific constant speed.

Properties are 40+ miles. I haul with a 22ft flatbed trailer. I do have a compact min till drill and a 7.5 ft 3pt land pride 15 series disc so I could just keep what I have a maybe go up in horse power some. Ultimately I think I’d be happier with the 7060 or 7040 if I could find one used, but that is proving to be a huge challenge.

Just a thought but if you have someone helping you when planting could you have them pull the drill from field to field with a truck and you trailer the tractor?

Have a friend that does that, they pull the drill with the truck and the tractor is trailered.

I know not the answer to your question but just trying to throw out ideas.

Good luck.

What are you drilling and how many acres?

Everything from switchgrass is to soybeans. I’ve done corn for food plots with my min till drill as well by blocking every other row, but getting the rate is kind of a pain.

for my self only a handful, but I am trying to start a side gig by installing food plots and CRP mixes in on the side. I also want to be able to do some logging on mine with the tractor. I used the 4701 to do it last winter and it worked pretty well.
I think I really just need to step up to the M7060. I can trade my X900 in along with my 4701 to cut down the price quite a bit.

If you get HST, the electronic cruise control and speedometer works well for precise speed. The setup on the L4701, mechanical cruise and no speedometer, not so much.
