I have a 3 cylinder 25 HP Marine kabuto diesel.
This motor is new to me and I am not sure what the actually motor style / name is so please bare with me.

1)
My question I hope someone can answer is -
Where is the decompression button / lever that releases the head pressure located?

2)
Where on the motor does the cable connect that you pull to kill the motor ?
I have looked everywhere and cannot find it . ( the cable broke off . (motor is in my sailboat and there's not much room to look around much less actually work on it.

Thank you kindly in advance

If you have the decompression on your motor. It's gonna look similar to this picture. There's a little rocker on the front end of the motor that the cable hooks too.

Now on my tractor. The kill lever is actually the throttle linkage. The hand throttle lets the linkage move back to the low idle position which is set by spring inside the injection pump.

Grabbing the kill lever, moves the linkage a 1/4" more which moves the fuel rail to the off position.

On some of the B models, the throttle lever works as the kill lever too. Run it down to idle. Then push the lever a little more and it shuts down.

I'm assuming you motor is probably similar.

The kill cable probably hooks to the throttle control on top of the injection pump. You can see the rocker in the above picture. Lower left in the picture under the air intake pipe.

Thank you kindly darin Todd.

I noticed your reply started with-
if you have the decompression on your motor .

Are you saying some motors will not have one?

They did away with decompression lever in the mid 80's to early 90's.

If you can find any casting numbers on the side of the block. It may have the engine model stamped in it somewhere.

I looked at the engine in my old kubota, and the only place besides the serial number tag on the side of the transmission that had the model number for the engine was actually a little sticker on the air filter housing.

Daring Todd .
Thank you very much for your help. As I mentioned earlier , the motor is on a sailboat.it is a marine diesel . I looked up on net kabuto marine deisels and they only make a couple different ones .
And I believe its a newer ( late 90s maybe early 2000)motor . so maybe it does not have the lever and that's why I can't find it.
As far as finding the #s - and model , there's only maybe 6 " on either side of motor to actually work on it . and the back of motor is not accsessable , there's only a 6 " radius to access the transmission area.
The guy I baught it off of ran it out of fuel and ( since its a boat ) there was water in bottom of tank. I did change the lines and fuel water/ seperator. I also chased the h20 out with fuel but I can't seem to get it to bleed the air out .
I am gonna check out the place es you suggested and see where that takes me.
Once again thank you so much . - as I am on a 2 by 3 mile island , there's not many people to get any help from .

Sailboat,
Most likely based on HP and year it won't have a decompression device.

You can find out what size and serial # (in red) you have, it's stamped next to the injection pump (in black).

The throttle control will be hooked up to either plate in blue, most likely the top.

Get a picture of the top of the injection pump like the one I took and I can get you a lot more information.

THANK YOU wolfman and darin todd !!!!!!!!!
You guys are the man!!!!! Found what I needed and was able to prime the fuel lines! It cracked right up !!!!
I can't express my appreciation enough !!
I have never worked on a diesel motor in my life.
I still have some work to do on it before I can actually take boat anywhere, but I'm on the right path !

I didn't run it but a minute or so - I noticed its not spitting water out of the exhoust ( it water cooled by ocean water from bottom of boat ) . I'm not sure exactly how it works YET! But im passed my first obsticle !

I'll be out at the reef here in the carribian soon

If it's water cooled (vs keel cooled), 1st check to make sure the through hull seacock is open. Then go the strainer, if you have one, is it plugged? You may need to pull the water line off the motor to prime it. While you're at it, take the cover off the water pump housing and put a new impeller in, because it's most likely shot. Always have a spare impeller on board as well.

Good luck.
