Was taking some scrap to the junk yard last week and saw this sign.

Bet he won’t stay out late howling at the moon anymore, at least if she’s in town, anyway 🤣

I put free stuff out at the end of the road every few months or so. I just put big signs on it that say "FREE" however. I don't use that other word. I want the stuff to go, not for the new potential owner to question its cleanliness...lol

I can't recall what it was now (many yrs ago) but had one guy come to the house and ask me if it was "really free" (musta been something pretty good_) ?

I am next door in NB, Canada

used to work with a mainer

pretty good dude but weird in a way

friendly? Hmm...I guess so? We got along at work. Wouldn't say friendly but we got along.

see these curb alerts all the time here. For a while my girlfriend made a living off of them and did pretty dern good at it. Reselling free stuff at her home-based business til her mom got sick with cancer which ended up taking her life. With the cost of fuel now, driving around looking for free stuff is out the window, she'd lose as much money in fuel as she'd sell at the sale. So we are looking at doing some different things now.

I have put a lot of gently used stuff a the curb for free. From almost new bikes to a bathroom vanity with a farmers sink that still looked new. I figured there are a lot of people in this county that are far less off than I and they could use the stuff.
Never thought of somebody picking it up and making a profit from it.
I once put out a huge Barbie Dream house. A young women in a beat up minivan came up the yard with tears saying her daughter wants one so bad and it was just not in their budget. She offered to clean the house for the summer as payment. I told her free is free and just enjoy watching the kid play with it.
Depending on my next and final move in retirement I may put the Kubota at the curb with the free sign on it.

I regularly put a "FREE WOOD" sign out when I do any sawmilling at home.

And the next morning every scrap will be gone.

I put something up by the road with a "Take me" sign on it. Sat there for a few days and trash day was coming, It was something related to little kids but don't remember what.

So I decided time to go get it, and trash it. Surprisingly, it wasn't there when I went to get it!

So free stuff CAN be helpful to others...It was something that had no scrap value. Wish I could remember what it was...

We get rid of a lot of stuff with a FREE sign.

If it's not gone in a couple days, I replace FREE with a $20 sign.

Then it gets stolen..... ;)

We used to do that. Put an old entertainment center or some such thing out to the curb. A little while later we would see a couple of the neighbors kids carting it off.

If it's really junky though, a little while later you would see the little turds returning the item 😡😡😡🙄🙄🙄🤣😂🤣😂

Funny this came up.

Today’s offers at my house.

@Chanceywd, if you’re left handed, you could use my old clubs at Knickerbocker. Green bag and covers. Dirt and dust are free too. ;)

I don’t play anymore. They’ve been there many times….;) I heard the course was sold, and won’t be converted to solar panels. Always liked the family.

The fellow from Maine that backed into my 1962 Chevrolet and then said that he didn't with a whole lot of people standing nearby that saw it happen wasn't a good guy. He even denied doing it to the police even though they had numerous witness statements! Rather than fight with him and his insurance company I turned it over to my insurance company and made it a claim on my policy.

I miss Yahoo groups. You could put anything you wanted gone at the curb and post it on freecycle. Poof, it was gone. Always amazed me what people would drive across town to get if it was free.
