Made a mistake today

So i kinda make a little mistake today. I was digging out for a new patio and got off the tractor to move some things around and got back on and started digging again. After about 30 mins of digging and driving about 30 yards and dumping the dirt (4wd low range) I realized I forgot to release the parking brake.

Question....Did I do any permanent damage to the brakes? Will I need to replace them now? I'm not even sure what kind of brakes are on these tractors.

Any advice?

Take it up to about 15 mph and hit the brakes to see if it stops well without pulling to one side or the other. If the brakes work well... you’re probably good for a lifetime.

We’ve all done that. One of my rainy day projects is to add a warning light to the brakes being applied.

Other people have done the same thing, I don’t think there’s any damage since you were going slow, just more wear on the brakes.

I am surprised it wasn’t more noticeable. With one click on the parking brake lock on mine, it won’t budge an inch, the tranny pressure valve will screech first. Maybe you need to tighten up the brake adjustment.

When it comes to this subject, there are only two types of operators- those who have done it, and those who will do it. As said, probably just extra wear, no real damage. Mine will not move in high range with the brake on, but in low range, it operates like there is no brake on. Don't ask me how I know. :)

Some Kubota's do have a parking brake on warning light. They all should, in my opinion.

It also kills me there is no 4x4 warning light. I really want one of these.

It will not move one inch in high. But in low and 4x4 it's like it's not even on.

I'm glad it's more common that I originally thought.

Greetings, I installed a back up beeper on the parking brake lock. Got a small micro switch, attached it above the brake lever and wired it in to the work light fuse. Works excellent, i set the brake after I shut the tractor off, then when I go to start up the tractor as soon as I turn the key on it starts beeping, I quickly release the brake. Works everytime.

I have conditioned myself that any and every time my butt hits the seat I give the brake pedal a kick........ have done that for years now....
