Helping a friend with his M9960HDC. Rats chewed the male connector from his HST sensor and ran off with it. Kubota want to sell him a $1000 harness. Assuming we can't find what's left of the connector we're going to pull the sensor and go shopping for 4 pin connectors or just solder wires to the sensor and put in new male and female ends. The problem is we have no way of knowing which wires go to which pin on the sensor. I have searched the electrical diagrams and found nothing. Anyone got any ideas?

You might be able to get the connector here.

Thanks! I'll look at their connectors. Still have to figure out what color goes to what pin, but that's a step in the right direction.

There is a WorkShop Manual pdf at www.kubotabooks.com. You'll need part 2 for the electrical section.

The 9960 is not HST. If you can identify where this device is and its function, you might be able to use an ohmmeter to figure out the pins and then the wires on the schematic.

Agreed. The part that the missing pigtail is connected to shows up as "Sensor, HST" on the schematic and parts list for the M9960HDC. The part (TD170-52300) shows as fitting 126 Kubota tractors and is listed on some of them as "Switch/Sensor (Engine)", or "Sensor (Transmission Case/HST)" or several other names, but it's all the same part number and they look the same. I'm thinking it's just a generic switch that they have used for several applications, but if you look it up specifically for my friends tractor it shows "Sensor, HST". I looked at the schematics and don't see any wire colors for this item. He may be screwed and have to buy a harness.

OK, here's a device 40 that's called Sensor, HST TD170-52302, part number doesn't quite match yours. This comes from the parts diagrams at www.kubotausa.com. It appears to be mounted near or on the fuel tank. What is yours attached to and actuated by? Could it be a throttle position sensor? What color wires and stripes are exposed?

On one of the schematics in the WSM is shown this Accelerator Sensor. I have no idea if this is the same as Sensor, HST on my previous post. But I'm guessing it may be connected to the throttle linkage. The wire colors would be black/yellow stripe, white/yellow stripe, red/yellow stripe and blue?/green? stripe (there's a legend somewhere).

Here's what's left. The colors look just as you described and you're probably right about it being an accelerator sensor. The owner said it's on the side of the idle control that let's you run at a constant RPM. We can get the female pins to fit the males in the sensor, we just don't know what order the colors attach. You found it though.

Does this look like it? What does the shaft interface with?

It looks like just a couple of potentiometers. One thing that complicates things is that terminal 2 MAIN isn't shown connected. Have you removed the sensor? Any chance there are small markings on the connector? They're probably in order if you know which is one. A picture looking into the connector might tell a knowledgeable person something.

I'm calling in @GreensvilleJay for assistance, he's an electrical whiz.

I’ll be talking to the guy where the tractor is this evening. I asked him to look for any numbers, maybe 1-4 if we could be that lucky. If there are no numbers my best guess is that the #1 pin is on the left looking down on the connector with the release on the top.
in just hope he finds the pigtail if the rat dropped it nearby. I’d like to know how he got the connector to release. I always have trouble with them. I guess I’ll start chewing on them.

Still waiting to hear whether he sees any numbers on it. I’m thinking if you put the metal actuator on the bottom and the connector release on the top it’s 1-4 left to right. I’d probably try that before spending $1000+ bucks on a new harness.

They were able to find the connector. The rat drug it off to a corner of the shop and left it. It's pretty much unmolested and we're trying to figure out how it was able to press the release and separate the connection. Thanks PoTreeBoy for your help. The schematic you sent let me figure out the order of the wires, should we have needed to.
