It's the same for both, put some grease on the balls to hold them in place then install the ring to hold them.

thanks for the reply,-the valve you sent is similar - from D thru 050 is different - mine has a rectangle part that bolts where D bolts on --I took this one off to clean the balls and springs, thinking it was made like the one pictured, found that I cannot seem to get the balls in correctly- as I have lost all detent action.
thinking I, may have to make (buy) the special socket (round with two flat sides) soas to pull the shafe (E) in your schematic to get the balls installed right

problem solved! thanks idaho wolfman-didn"t notice the second picture, was the same as mine, found out that if you put the spool valve in all the way in and install bungie cord to keep it there-just install inner collar with greased balls then put in the sleeve - follow with cover plate and adjust the tension
