Hey all,

I've seen a few posts about the cabin fan speed issue that's usually a resistor problem. I'm having that right now - good speed on 1,2,3 but 4 (high) is about like 1 or less. So want to change out the resistor but damn, ~ $100 seems ridiculous. Anyone found another resistor (not Kubota) that is the same as OEM but cheaper? Thanks.

Current 2012 M8540 with 2100 hrs (all mine). Cabin, 4WD, 12spd. Knocked my own front windshield out last month while putting the loader back on after haying. Stupid

OK, that's not a 'resistor', looks like it has 3 resistors inside of it.
sounds like one of the resistors has opened.
I checked the part online, yup the 'module' sits in the duct, has 3 resistors in it, one of which is open...
now if you had a good DVM, you could check the resistances and bodge a replacement.
I agree $100 (US ) is an obscene price BUT it's the correct part, cheaper than having dinner out though !

Actually, this sounds like the opposite of a bad resistor. Typically a blower motor resistor pack has high to low resistance for low to high fan speeds. The highest fan speed is usually full battery voltage, no resistor.

Edit- found the M8540 WSM. It is what I suspected- for high speed, the resistor pack is fully bypassed allowing the blower motor full access to ground through the blower high relay.

If you are getting nothing from the blower when it's switched to high, look at either the blower high relay or the switch itself. Don't condemn the component without verifying the wiring and/or connections are still good. You may have corrosion at the connectors or at the grounding point.

sure helps to see the wiring ! since no 'high', check the 'high blower relay (6)' --- switch (8) connections.
grounding the lower relay terminal should power up the relay and give fan high speed.
should be able to pull the relay, bench test.
