Getting serious about buying a brand new Kubota 7060 HD 4x4 open station with loader--got some questions. First, what's a good price? Looking at an 8 speed 4x4 with 1154 loader. Dealer after some haggling is at $33000. Offering me $8000 for a 1973 JD 2630 2WD with loader. Is this a good price?
Secondly, what's the price difference between the 8 speed and 12 speed tranny? Which one is better? Are there any to avoid? Any other thoughts or advice? Thanks! Hope the M7060 is a good option.

First off you have to price out your package on Kubota build and price and take off roughly 8-10% and that should put you at a fair selling price. Also you need to find out what the CIR's (rebate) are and then take those off of the selling price. (depends on cash or low rate financing)

The transmission depends on the style of use! Utility work or just puttering around 8 speeds are fine. If you are a farmer than a 12 speed would be a better choice.

I see the M7060 has a msrp of $39,k. generally car/truck shopping you can take $5.k off the sticker. And haggle from there. I see a quick search of the 1973 JD 2630 a selling price of $8500. at a dealership.
And of course shop around. The closest dealer might not be the one with the best deal.

As was mentioned, depends on how the tractor is going to be used. A 12 speed is going to give you more speed choices. I have found that more gears is better. I have 12 on my 75hp tractor and wish that it had 16.

Are you going to be grading? If so, get all 3 rear remotes, I would get 2 of the valves with the float feature. You are going to want to get a top & tilt set for the 3pt hitch to improve the ease of making 3pt adjustments.

The M7060 should serve you well. These seem to be a very good utility size machine. ;)

All good advice, I can only echo MtnViewRanch as that is what we have on our M8540 and it works great for us.

Yes, an 8 speed will do, but I've learned to buy right and buy once. We have about any transmission besides GST including an 8/8.

Well i just bought/ ordered mine, dont know if got a good price, but its the only dealer i have close by. I ordered the 12 spd trans, front end loader and third function valve. Bc its the 12 spd u get the eco pto pkg. Dont know if that matters to you or not. My tractor price with tax and all fees was 36,245. However i added the insurance whch was 3800. I dont remember the 12spd trans price but i dont think its all that much, if u build your own on kubota only adds couple hundred to price best i could tell. My quote on tractor before 3rd valve and 12 spd from dealer was 35,300 i think. So add from there roughly. Anyway hope it helps.

Hello,
Hi
The eco pto alone is worth the extra money, you can use for lots of implements, as
Log splitters
Circular saws
Chippers
Etc.

Eco pto gives you your 540 pto rpms at 1800 engine rpms when engaged vs your normal 540 pto rpm at 2400. Call it eco for economy i guess since u should save fuel by turning fewer rpms acheiving same 540 pto rpm. I just wonder if can use it when clipping or if its just good for some secondary attachments like log splitters or post hole diggers , didnt really ask salesman.

Well for me i think the 12spd was way to go, i will likely only own one tractor. I do not farm however i will be doing alot of cleanup at my place and clipping, and planting food plots. And quite frankly im not sure what i will run into with it over next several years. I might want a few cows or some other livestock, i have a orchard planned but who knows exactly how things will shake out. To me i just did not want to get a year into my purchase wishing i had added couple of things up front and end up wanting to trade it in later. My thought was to buy one that would do everthing i could think of i might do with it living in the country, and do it within reasonable amount of time, and allow room to do things i didnt realize i would be doing, because im sure that will happen.

The 12 speed was the right choice for us and we no longer farm, haven't in many years. Several years ago, my father in law bought an 8/8 70HP in less than two weeks it was sitting back on the dealer's lot with a new 12/12 in our barn.

Four people use our M8540HDC 12/12 and it seems several of us prefer different gears/range for jobs, so with 12/12 it is much easier to find just the right gear. Now if you've never used anything else, you'll probably be happy with n 8/8, but we had used a 12 speed for several years before the 8/8.

You just don't know what you don't know.

Yeah, the list of things I now find a "must have" that I once said I'd never, need, want, own is embarrassingly long.
