Last time I worked the tractor hard mowing meadows the hydraulics quit working, the tractor was not hot but after a lighter load the hydraulics started working again. Both the remotes and the 3 point quit. Not low on fluid, the transmission was full. No problem since then. Power steering is a separate pump and it has worked through it all. So, I changed the filter today and it took 15-20 minutes of running before the hydraulics started working. Remotes and 3 point are working fine now. Any Ideas?

I am s little confused.

The hydraulics that quit working are the 3pt and remotes?

Then after some time they started working again?

You then changed the hydraulic filter and it took 15-20 minutes to start working again.

Is that correct? If so it sounds like your pump is losing prime. Two possibilities come to mind.

  1. The suction line is leaking or obstructed
  2. The pump is getting worn
Start with number one and hope that is the problem.

You have it correct. There is no leak. How do I tell if it is obstructed? Can the pump be rebuilt or is it a replacement?

Loss of prime is just what it acted like, but it doesn't lose prime if the tractor sets unused for several weeks.

Obviously I was just guessing and I don't know the specifics of the plumbing on that tractor.
To answer your questions:

Gear pumps are not rebuildable so that's an expensive failure.

If it happens again I would try to disconnect the supply line as close to the pump as possible and look see what's happening there. A suction leak will have the same effect as a blockage.
