Doesn't happen all the time, but it is becoming more of a nuisance. I suspect that the fuel pump could be the problem and that it isn't supplying sufficient fuel to the injection pump, so am thinking about setting up a separate electrical fuel pump, just to see if it cure my issue. I can get the tractor back running by contiually running the starter until evidently sufficient fuel gets to the injection pump and then is seems to run as it should.
Any thoughts?

That would be simple enough to try. The tank is mounted low so fuel needs to be lifted to the engine. While your problem COULD be a failing lift pump, it could also be something else. Have you been finding anything unusual in the fuel filter bowl? Has there been any recent history of a lost fuel cap and any running time without a cap on the fuel filler? Just to mention a couple things I've run across before.
