Anybody else compared these 2? What are your thoughts? What prices were you quoted for financed O/S tractor, loader, 3rd function?
Thanks for the feedback. I searched and found a couple of comparisons. The M is heavier, more rear lift capacity, little bigger loader, supposed to be more of an Ag utility vs. compact utility. I was quoted close to same price for the two.I believe the M is noticeably bigger as a machine, and more capable. Loader in particular I believe. If you can live with the stripped down model M (i.e. no functions removed that you need), it's probably better buying.
Thank you Sir. I think I can also get by without bells and whistles.I did. Went with the M5660 and LA1154 loader. I'm ok with the hydraulic shuttle transmission and fewer bells & whistles.
I drove the M5660 yesterday. The salesman said use clutch when using the shuttle shift. Sales brochure said no clutch. I haven’t seen the manual yet. What’s the correct way to use the shuttle shift?
Thank you very much Sir. Where did you find the digital version of the operator’s manual?I don’t clutch when moving around in low range and low RPM; however, when mowing or other higher RPM and/or high range, I use the clutch when shifting F & R.
Now what defines slowly, is anyone’s guess. HaHa!
My Kubota App. I keep up with all maintenance and materials there. Easy to use.Thank you very much Sir. Where did you find the digital version of the operator’s manual?
The shuttle shift operates the clutch pack hydraulically so there's no need to depress the clutch pedal when changing direction. I only use the clutch pedal when shifting gears (within a range) or when backing up to an implement for more control.I drove the M5660 yesterday. I have an M4. For F>R shifting, I never use the clutch. Sometimes I do shifting F>R. The limit for me is in higher gears like 5L, 6L the electronic clutch let-off is pretty abrupt and will launch you backwards. I dont think its a problem for the system, it's just a quick launch backwards and is unsettling acceleration. Going R>F is less abrupt for some reason, or maybe stabilized by the weight of the FEL. It could be a mental thing...like fear of flying backwards into something.I drove the M5660 yesterday. The salesman said use clutch when using the shuttle shift. Sales brochure said no clutch. That's awesome and congratulations! You will really like the M5660. I like the Kubota 3rd function kits. You got two sets of rear remotes right, or at least that's what I got on my 6060 and I think that's how the M series come.Thank you all for your comments. I bought the M5660SUHD with the R1-W tires yesterday. Getting a Kubota 3rd function, wheel weights and a right fender handgrip added. I’ve had a B7100HSTD without an FEL for 27 years. Looking forward to a bigger tractor. And an FEL!
Thank you Sir. Only one remote came on the M5660. I will check into adding a cutting edge. That's awesome and congratulations! You will really like the M5660. I like the Kubota 3rd function kits. Also, you might want to look into a bolt-on cutting edge if the bucket didn't come with one. The bucket on the 6060 didn't have one, or any holes to add one, but I was able to move the factory edge from the MX bucket to the M bucket since I had bought an EA bolt on cutting edge as an upgrade for the MX.
You might know this already, but you can buy a bolt-on straight edge from Kubota that is intended to just protect the leading edge of the bucket, or you can buy more aggressive cutting edges from companies such as Everything Attachments, BXpanded and perhaps some others. If you don't intend to dig with the bucket the Kubota edge is sufficient, and it's a lot less aggressive if you're putting the bucket down on asphalt or concrete.Thank you Sir. Purchased an M5660SUHD 5 years ago. Wanted a tractor that was Cat II and 2000 lb loader capacity. Needed something that could be used in barn yard areas but also get out to do heavier jobs. It has 1100 hrs now. No problems. About 300 of the hours were grapple work after a couple of hurricanes. Used for mowing in wooded areas and other general tractor work. My only complaint is the DPF regeneration. But that's just part of having any newer tractor.Anybody else compared these 2? What are your thoughts?
