Hey guys, I’m new to working on tractors but I bought this tractor and having some issues. So I was trying to rip up a garden spot and the lift on the 3 point will just quit lifting. If I shut the tractor off and let sit for a while and crank it back up it will lift. I was thinking maybe hydraulic filter or low on fluid but the funny thing is I don’t have a clue where or how to check the fluid level. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks alot

Welcome to OTT
I don't know the answer on where to check trans oil level. If the dipstick is anywhere close to location as to my M7040 it is close above rear pto shaft.

Have you considered acquiring an operators manual for your tractor????

My M4700 has a dipstick on the floor between the operator’s legs, forward of the seat.

I thought that was the dipstick but I was confused because there is a cap to fill under the seat and then by your diagram it shows part #290. That’s a fill also? I was confused by having 2 places for filling

Yes very common for kubota's to have multiple fill locations, made it easier to be able to leave at least one exposed when they put different cabs, attachments, and implements and on them. ;)

Ok got ya! I really appreciate your help! That dipstick shows full but the lift still won’t work sometimes. I have to shut it off and give it awhile and come back and it will lift. Any ideas?

Sounds like it could have a suction leak, look at the larger line on the hydraulic pump, look at all fitting and connections for wet spots.

The other options are a clogged filter or some other mechanical issue.

Thanks wolf man, the new filter came in this morning so I pulled the old one off and the stem had chunks of what looked like gasket material on it and all in the filter! Cleaned it real good and replaced with new filter and the lift works great now! Just alittle concerned where the gasket like material came from!

If you can dump it out and take a picture of it, that might help.

My guess would be hydraulic clutch or brake material.

Hi all new member here New Zealand based.
What if the entire dipstick arrangement is not there?(140,150,160,170,180)
How would I check oil level?
Couldn't tell year of old rusty I'm sorry, you'll understand when you see her.
By the way,the driving shaft of the hydraulic pump sheared off(cavitation I suspect) but that's another question.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheerzzz...
