M4500DT what's under here?

I have a few things I'm trying to identify that the manuals haven't been much help with - does anyone know what's under these?

#1 (A & B) : hatch above righthand step, label is mostly illegible but seems to say something about lubrication so I'm thinking it's something important

#2 : this is just about directly underneath the steering wheel, pretty sure there's not supposed to be a split pin through a hole in the case leaking oil - any ideas what might be inside here? The head cover gasket looks pretty done in, we're replacing that - but also doesn't look really like it should be leaking into here so wondering if there's another separate issue

#3 : random plug under the seat - not mentioned in service manual that I can see, no idea what it's for

#1 remove to grease the clutch release bearing.
#2 yes that's a genuine Kubota split pin :) and its supposed to be there. To allow anything in the clutch cavity above to drain out, like if a crankshaft seal or gearbox input shaft seal started leaking, thats your indicator.
#3 adjusting the 3 pt hitch feedback rod. See page S 7-1 of the manual.

#1 remove to grease the clutch release bearing.
To be 100% clear, there is a throw out bearing on a carrier sleeve behind the cover. There is a grease point on the carrier. The grease you put into that Zerk will grease between a shaft and the bearing carrier that slides as you push the clutch. The bearing is probably a double sealed bearing that cannot be (easily) greased.

You can probably buy a new label or see a picture of the label on Messicks or Coleman site. It limits how many pumps of grease you put there (probably 2-3 pumps of a hand driven grease gun) so it doesn’t get all over the clutch and pressure plate.

@JohnDB sorry to be clarifying your post but I just didn’t want people thinking it would grease the actual bearing when it doesn’t get there.

That split pin keeps the hole from plugging up with junk and debris by “jiggling” itself during ordinary operation.

Thanks for clarifying that Russell, good point.

Thanks for the replies.

We'll try to find the instructions for the throw out bearing greasing. Don't think that was in the manuals. How often should that be done?

With regards to #3, we probably weren't so clear. It's not that lever that adjusts something for the 3pl. There is a metal plug/cap under the seat. Can't really get to it to see what it's opening into (we can't get our seat plate off because one of the pegs it sits on/is bolted intoto be listed in the manya rotates when trying to unbolt it) but can only assume the gearbox/PTO gearbox given where it is. Don't know if it is supposed to be a fill point but it doesn't seem to be in the manual. We weren't sure what it is for.

Thanks for the helpful responses!

All the info is in the operator's manual, which I think you downloaded from my Google Drive a while back (happy to be corrected on that point... let me know as it is worthwhile having the operators, engine WSM and tractor WSM). The ops manual is also available from the good folk at Kubotabooks.com. So I think you probably need to spend a bit more time going through it because it might identify what else you really should be/should not be doing.

So, for example, the ops manual has the greasing schedule and what/how to grease including the clutch release.

Re #3, I think you were clear to me anyway, that plug is as I described earlier. It is opening into the transmission, you don't fill oil through it, the purpose is shown in the WSM, and in my experience should hardly if ever need to be opened. The transmission fill point is about 100mm behind the gearlever, near the transmission dipstick. The one point I'd make that isn't in the manual is that if you must insert the transmission dipstick exactly vertically otherwise it can contact something rotating inside the transmission :)

Anyway, if you think I still don't understand please don't hesitate to reply. The Kubota manuals aren't always right, but I think they cover most stuff comprehensively enough.

Thanks John, I did find the section covering what is under that cap.
The different manuals are very helpful as we go through trying to get familiar with it and up to date on servicing. Thanks for the advice around drain/fill torque's. Found that chart and will work it out from there.
The parts guy at the local Kubota shop is now joking with me about our part by part rebuild each time I've been in...and so it shall continue! They've been extremely helpful though and it is amazing how easily they've sourced all the bits so far.
You are all awesome, thank you.
