I have a new-to-me M6060 with the M4011 backhoe + mechanical thumb. (whooohooo!)

The backhoe already has hydraulics setup for a hydraulic thumb. Two questions:

2. Can i just add the hydraulic cylinder to the hoe and connect it to the remotes and bucket?

3. Does anyone know where to find a spec for the cylinder? I've looked all over and can't find any information about this backhoe, never mind the cylinder for the thumb.

Thanks!
If it helps i'll post a couple pictures.

If it's already valved and piped the yes hooking up a cylinder should work.

The stock cylinder is P/N 70002-00838
Which looks to be a 2.5" x 15.56" x 25.75"
The stock cylinder is stupid expensive, so I would find a aftermarket that will fit.

Easy way to find a cylinder that will work you need to know bore , 2.5", stroke 15.56" (need to check), and pin size and width of clevis.

Remove the mechanical bar move the thumb to full close and full open, the difference in that length is the stroke needed.
total length is a variable

There is several cylinder manufactures that either have one that will work or will make one to fit your needs. ;)

that is really, really helpful - thanks

i'm going to go hunting for a cylinder now, I suppose. Why would they charge such a premium for what is effectively a standard product?

Not a good picture...but I added the ram to my manual...and love it!!

The above poster has good info...figure out the throw for the ram and buy one that fits how you want to fab it...

I added the rear remotes...three of them...plumbed to work the thumb and TnT for the box blade...so I don't think you will be able to get it plumbed into the back hoe itself...it works fine for me with the valve up by my roll bar...I will see if I can find a pic of my set up.

You can see the two lines I plumbed up to the valve...if you do it well you will avoid pinching it and make sure they are long enough...I used rope to figure out how long and where to mount to avoid crushing them...works great...and you are going to see how much better things are with the hydro thumb...alot easier and quicker...

Dumb question - but the pin size that would attach to the boom on the hoe? and/or the pin size for the thumb?

Assuming this is with the bucket fully opened..? and the measurement is from the pin connection to....where?

...and after working on some google fu, I came up with too few. Anyone jump out at you, or is this just a hunt & hunt & ask around type of thing.

I figured i'd pick your brain again... feel free to suggest I figure it out on my own, i won't be upset at all ... but if you happen to have some experience with said type of project... i appreciate the feedback.

Thanks - a lot :)

Pin size is the Dia of the pin's that attach the cylinder to the thumb.

The measurement of stroke of the thumb cylinder is Pin to Pin thumb retracted to Pin to Pin thumb extended, from what i read it sounds like it's somewhere in the 8" range.

NOTE: I'm not saying this is the right one! It's just a good guess based on info I have, give me more info and I'll fine tune the search.

Give me pin size (size of the pin dia that will hold the cylinder to the BH frame and to the thumb.)
Length pin to pin retracted and length pin to pin extended.

If pin size is greater on the cylinder you can put a bushing in it, smaller is not good!

Here is what you need to look at and see if it fits the bill.

Pics... 'cause I think that helps...

I'm taking measurements tonight - at the moment i've removed the 'mechanical arm' of the thumb, because it doesn't seem to be adjustable, and just attached the thumb to the boom
