2022 m4-071d cab model. At about 75 hours began having a more and more consistent problem with cranking after run hot. Everything turns on lights etc but engine does not attempt to crank. Just as if PTO was accidentally on etc.

Let it sit for 30-60 mins and cranks fine.

Took to dealership they ran on 2500 rpm for 2 hours and couldn’t reproduce.

So, some safety sensor or relay or something is overheating. Where do I start? Our property is very large and getting stranded is a big deal.

What exactly do you mean by "run hot"? Temperature gauge in the red until it shuts down? Normal operating range and then won't start after taking a break? Running at 2500 numbers per minute sitting on the lot is different from running 2500 numbers per minute spinning a 15 foot batwing in tall grass.

Have you tried “jumping” directly to the starter/solenoid? (to see if it’s isolated to a starter motor problem)

That would tell us if it’s a safety-switch or not.

By hot I don’t mean temp red. I just mean run it for a while doing anything. If you drive down the driveway no problem. But run the bushhog, spread some gravel etc for a while then it happens. Haven’t figured out exactly how long etc

Yesterday when it happened my friend was on it and they tried jumping directly to the starter and nothing.

Dealership has not seen this issue before. Suggested maybe replace starter relay before loading tractor up and bringing it back in. Assuming this is easy DIY?

to the OP. Did you have any luck getting this fixed? My M4 is doing the same thing, and my dealer is having issues figuring out what is causing it. It's frustrating for sure.

Did you ever get this resolved? I just bought a "new" aged stock 2022 M4-071D this past November. Unfortunately, I have the exact same problem and dealer cannot make it repeat. I have to "work" the tractor to make it happen...mow some hay or bale. It's like a safety gets hot or something. Basically, once I start it up for the day I try not to shut it off unless I know I won't need it for a couple of hours. Please let me know if you were able to get this resolved. Thank you!
