I found a chewed up tab washer about the size of a quarter when I removed the suction side pump screens during a fluid change on my B7100HST (attached pic). I heard the piece drop down to the bottom of the housing while draining the fluid. I don't see any tab washers on the service manual figures for an HST, e.g. Fig. 70. I do see them for a manual 7100D on the shift rails, i.e. Fig 74, part #23. So, I'm second guessing the value of taking it apart to figure it out. Any idea what the tab washer is supposed to be used for? Possible it could have been something accidentally left in their during assembly? I'm using the I&T Shop Service Manual. Thanks in advance for any help.

Old B7100 HST or new B7100 HST?
How many lugs on the front wheels?
The only place that I even see a washer is on the PTO shaft, and that could end up down there.
It's more likely someone dropped it in there.
Do yourself a favor and go to Kubotabooks.com and download the Kubota WSM for your tractor, much better info in that manual. ;)

In the B6200-7200 HST WSM 10710
On Page 103
Item #5 is described as "lock Washer".

That may be the one. But of course, there are no dimensions in the WSM nor the parts manual.

The WSM helped, thanks. Appears to be a Tongue Washer, Ref No. 12 or 14 on page 24. Found them for sale online for a whopping 48 cents. I wish I knew what the function is and whether or not it is worth going into the transmission case to replace.

That "tab" is suppose to be bend down to the flat on the nut to lock it on. If it is applied correctly, that is the tab is bent down, it doesn't come off until the tab is bent back up. And that bending back up requires a humanoid with a flat screwdriver or bar to raise up. But then again, maybe the humanoid didn't bend it down in the first place!!

What internal service work has been done to the tractor that you know of?

I just had my 7100 trans apart the other week, and the only location I saw those tab washers were at the ends of the shift rails. You stake the tab around the head of the bolt to keep it from backing out.

@D2Cat, the chewed up washer's tab, although it is a bit mangled, appears to be bent over. So my guess is the bolt sheared or backed out, or maybe it wasn't bent over enough. I don't know the tractor's service history, and I've never taken it in. @N3BP, thanks, I saw those as well in the manual version, but no shift rails for the HST. I'm fairly certain they are the ones I found as noted.

Unfortunately, to get the trans case cover off where this part lives, I have to separate the trans from bell housing (the forward bolts (2) can't be accessed with the 1-piece bell housing in the way), doh! Looking at Ref 01T024, it appears there are two, one held by a bolt, the other slipped over a stud and held by a nut. I think it's just to hold the trans case and diff case together. There are several other studs/nuts, so I don't think it functional, beyond being structural. Putting fluid back in tomorrow, moving on....

Thanks for all the help on this.
