I am looking for anyone that owns a M5140, I bought mine about a month ago and noticed a noise in the power steering lines, it sounds like air but there is no sign of air in the hydraulics. The dealer took it back and changed the pump and the filters and it’s still doing it. It sounds similar to a coffee pot percolating when it does it and it does it more when the tractor warms up and mostly at an idle. The dealer contacted Kubota service department and they came and looked at it and said they would research it. I called the dealer Friday and asked if they came up with anything and was told that they looked at two other m5140’s and they did the same thing. I am just trying to make sure this is the case – thanks for looking

Hey, I just bought one also that is doing the same noise in the hydrolics as it gets hot it gets worse, the dealer is going to bring the kubota rep to my house to listen, I have showed them the complaints that i have found about the same problem with other M tractors, right now they are not sure what to do,the tractor has only 37hrs and I dont want them to start swaping out parts on it until they know the problem, Thanks and I am not HAPPY.

Just ran across this thread. I have a one month old M5140. I haven't noticed the sound you're describing. I do hear some "whine" from the tranny which should die down a bit after breakin. Will pay more attention next time I get on it. Maybe they fixed your problem on the more recent tractors. Be interested to see how you came out with your problem

Still does it, if there's a fix no one has shared it with me.

Had walked away from the M5140 today and noticed the "coffee percolator" sound. The tractor was at operating temp and at an idle. I haven't noticed the sound when in the operator's seat. Have you gotten any more info on the problem? Mine only has 24 hrs or so.

My M7040 had that percolating hyd sound when I 1st bought it but I haven't heard that noise in a long time. Noise just went away with use as I didn't have dealer look at it.

I have an M5140 with close to 200 hours that I purchased about 2 years ago. It has always made that noise but I've never had any issues. I would like to know what it is though.

My M5140HD was delivered on 11/28/14.I warmed it up and had my wife drive it as soon as the dealer pulled away. My wife asked me what that strange noise was, she said our old L3830 never made that noise. I thought it was air in the hydraulics and would go away. After the tractor turned 12 hours I called the dealer. The noise is a little louder now and they picked the tractor up today(1/5/15) and are going to try and troubleshoot. If anyone has figured out what the noise is your help would be appreciated.

Mine still makes the noise, almost two years later. If they find a cause with your's please reply to this post. Oh and except for the annoying noise the tractor is great - so far
