Hello, I am new to this website and to this forum. I enjoy reading the threads about Kubota tractors. I am in the market for tractor with a FEL to use around my tree farm. A nearby Kubota dealer has an L3940 HST with FEL, R4 tires, and with less than 500 hours showing. I checked the serial number with Kubota and they said it was sold in 2007 but couldn't provide date of manufacture. Since this model began in 2007, I assume it is a 2007 model. Anyway, it appears to be in very good condition and is mechanically sound. The dealer is asking $17,700. I would like your opinion on this tractor and whether that is a fair price for the tractor. Thank you for your time.

Run... Don't walk... Run or get in your auto and go buy it before someone else snags it. 
That is a real good price for that tractor model and those hours!
Average normal going price is in the $24K range.

It's a good deal but... I bought my L4740 with 440ish hours. Guess what? No 400 hour maintenance done and filter prices were shocking. You might be able to negotiate down a bit if it wasn't done. The plus is it's pretty straight forward to do yourself and this site was invaluable. Who woulda thunk there are 2 engine oil drains? NAPA here runs commodity pricing specials and I picked up SUDT from them.
Good price! I have a 2012 L3940 hst-3 and love it. A full service is basically $500, but it's the cost of having a decent sized tractor.

Update on L3940 HST.......first thank you to everyone for your input. I did buy the tractor for the price I mentioned. It has 360 hours and is in great shape with a few scratches. The dealer serviced the tractor and changed oil, oil filter, hydraulic filter, air filter, greased everything, and checked it all out. I must say it is a far cry from the other tractors I have used around my tree farm (Ford 3600 and MF 231). This tractor is great and I look forward to many years of use from this tractor. I'm sure I'll have other questions about this tractor as time goes on. Thank you again for your input.
