Long term loader storage

I am wondering what you guys do if you are taking the loader off long term. How do you cover the entire rams so that there is no chrome exposed? I will be taking it off for most of the winter and it will be stored outside.

Never stored mine outside. Maybe lay some plywood over the arms and cover it with a tarp. I'd probably spray some oil on the rams.

Wondering the same thing about my hoe. Coat the chrome with grease? WD-40?

Once it's off the tractor I'd just cover it with a blue tarp. You can put bungees in the grommets to pull it tight in a couple of places, and weight it down with bricks or wood blocks or something to keep it wind resistant.

Ironically, I put the loader on all winter with a rear end snowblower, and that's the snow removal configuration.

Try a can of Fluid Film. I think Oreilly has it now. But anything coating the exposed shaft has to help.

I bought a backhoe 20 years ago that had been setting out side probably 5 years then. I cleaned the little pick marks off with some emery paper and been using it since. Never any trouble. Never inside. I think the quality of the shaft determines the damage done.

I second the Fluid Film, my dealer advised it & I use on my BH for winter storage.

I'll grease her up and try a tarp. When the ground gets soft I won't want the extra weight on the front wheels

I use fluid film undercoating that works well. A good friend picks me up a 5 gallon pail of it when I need it and I have a spray gun to apply it with. As the commercial says, I put that chit on everything. . Just don't use WD40, your wasting your time and money it's not meant for that. A spray undercoating like Krown or Rust Check makes for an easy clean up in the spring.
