Good evening all , i wish to purchase a locking gas cap for my L6060 but for the love of God,where can i find this??? In desperation, i went to local Kubota dealer and they don’t carry anything and searched online for me and we came up skunked so here i am on the forum, can anyone map me to an aftermarket site??. I just ordered one and it came in and of course it does not fit. This is the problem buying online, no matter how many times you look at it online you still can’t seem to find the proper fitting one. Seems simple enough, a rather large cap that threads on the outside of the nozzle/spout .. any help is much appreciated.

Create your own by drilling a hole in the side of the existing cap and then tapping it for an Allen screw. Drill a matching hole in the threaded section, and then screw the long Allen screw into the hole. Put the Allen wrench where you won't lose it.

I like the idea, but I wonder/believe once you drill the hole eventually it will wear and you’ll need to draw another maybeand I also wonder about air getting in there.
By the sounds of things, this has been brought up before. The dealer is of no help. Apparently we need an entrepreneur to design one patent and put it out there unless anyone has any other DIY ideas thank you very much for all that replied

hmm, wouldn't the 'neck' or 'filler pipe' have to be modified for the cap to lock to it ?
maybe some car neck and cap could be adapted to fit, using rubber collar and gear clamps ?
A big, modified strap hinge/hasp with a lock ?
Perhaps a hinged steel box and lock ?
Just trying to think of 'options' I've seen on equipment over the years.

We made locking caps for equipment at work on a case-by-case basis. Some were attachments to steel caps. Some were locking doors. Some were flatbar straps with a hinge at one end and a hasp arrangement in the other. With a little imagination and a few tools it isn't "rocket surgery" :)

Just lock the barn doors! 😂

And it's "fuel" or "diesel" ... Hopefully you haven't put too much "gas" in it.

Modern Kubota caps are plastic…. screwed onto plastic tank-necks.… the plumbing exiting the tank in the OPEN.
How secure do you think a locking cap will be..? …and just exactly What Are You hoping to accomplish…?

The mostly likely result will be a complication for the owner anytime he/she wishes to re-fuel the thing.

it’s just a mild deterrent so the kids or anyone poking around don’t unscrew the cap and throw shit in there at least I know if the cap has been ripped off that someone was up to no good. I don’t mind an extra key, I just keep it with the main key so it’ll always be there whenever I need fuel. Like The the previous post, I guess I’ll just have to design something myself, thanks to all that have replied.!

Couldn't you change the filler neck from an "outie" to an "innie" via a piece of tubing or plastec/polypropylene pipe?

You asked how and not why since the "why" is your business. Here's my attempt to actually answer your question.

Your L6060 has a fuel neck located in a similar position to my M6060 i.e. low down relative to the engine. If you have any bolts near the fuel cap (see below) it would be very easy to add a locking plate that prevents the fuel cap from being removed. There are three bolts near the fuel cap on my M6060 that could be used to secure a plate that could be hinged and that could be locked with a pad lock.

If I were making something like this for my M6060 I'd weld (or bolt) an angle and hinged plate to the step. It would be an easy project.

If you look at the MX below, the only way to make the fuel cap tamper proof would be to glue, rivet, pin an extension to the filler neck that's able to work with an off the shelf locking fuel cap.

My F-250 has a locking fuel cap but it's the combination lock variety. It has three tumblers numbered 0 through 9 so that's 10^3 combinations i.e. 1,000 combinations. For me, I'm not concerned about fuel being stolen, but as you say, someone adding something to the fuel tank out of spite or envy.

You might look for valve locking covers that might fit. Like these

Or call Messick’s and see if the person that designed and 3D printed an adapter for using a vacuum for the hydraulic fluid filter changes ( See them here) could do some design work for you.

that’s exactly what I’m going to do is pin an extender to the inside and use the walking gas cap, brilliant idea I needed a few other people too give me some ideas. Again, thank you to all who have replied. I love this site.! ReGun

My first sentence got cut off in my initial post. My thought was to glue on or pin on a piece of pipe or tubing that would change the current filler neck from an outie to an innie. Rivets would work but you might be able to find a glue suitable for polypropylene or such and glue on a piece of pipe. Then you could use a standard fuel cap with key or combination lock.

If you have a 3D printer, or access to one, a "lockable cover’ would a fairly simple thing to “print out"

Side Note: My dad had device that kept me and my brother from F’ing around with “fuel caps”….

It looked like this…..Pretty sure he got them at K-mart’s…….
