Could be water, could be low fluid, could be air being sucked into the system on the suction side. ;)

If it truely works better on colder days...... then fades back to jerky as it all gets warm then I'd tend to think something with seals or pump. Cold Hydraulic fluid will have much higher viscosity thus less leak by..... but as it warms up the hydraulic fluid... you loose that.

Air can also be sucked in easier on warm hoses and pipes. ;)

I should have added that it only jerks the first time you raise it. After that it is smooth. The fluid is full and clean. With no leaks to be seen anywhere.
Air leaks are different. Air leaks in..... on vacuum side. Not oil out.

Take a look at your quick disconnects for the FEL...If one of the cylinders or seals blew debris usually gets stuck there. If you find stuff blow out the lines and change your oil, filters and clean the screen...that is once you figure out what blew...
