Has anyone found an aftermarket or another Kubota part number to use as a dip stick. The dip stick or gauge is in a terrible position. I have big hands and trying to reach in that area is a PITA. I have to work both hands in to pull the little cap. I t does not have a ring or a “T” handle. It is like a little cap. Sorry if this is a redundant post. Thanks

there is a little trick that may help.

With your right hand use your thumb under the hard line that runs across the little rubber nubbie and same hand the index finger over top of the hard line across the little rubber nubbie.

Instead of pulling up give the nubbie a little twist first with the slightest upward motion and bobs your uncle / success.

Give it a try. i do it with winter gloves on and works fine. trying to do a straight pull is very difficult cause that grey hard line is in the way.

I heartily agree - horrible design/placement. I suspect a clever guy could find and modify a generic dipstick to take its place.

Yes, it is poorly thought out item. One of my two biggest gripes on an otherwise nice machine.

The other is having to raise the loader to remove filter screen.

At least you don't have to worry about a limb poking into a ring and pulling the dip stick out. I use my L3901DT in the woods most of the time doing firewood and there is always a twig or limb brushing up on the tractor. I once had the wire going to the oil sending unit get pulled off the sensor.

It is a pain sometime to get it out, but like MapleLeafFarmer said, if you turn it a little while pulling up on it, it does come out easier.

I took a zip tie and made a finger size loop, then another zip tie or maybe it was 2 to fasten that to the grooved area of the knob. That has worked pretty good for my old arthritic hands.
I can remember I will take a picture of it.

Bill

So this is what I did, I understand the thoughts of catching but my arthritis demanded I do something!

Maybe that is the reason they designed it like it is. Low profile so that it does not get pulled out accidentally.
