Looking to purchase a finish mower, but undecided on what size is better for me. I know the price and size is of course different , but I'm more less looking for opinions. I plan to use the mower for cutting trails on my property. The trails I would like are kind of twisty and turny. Would the 84 inch be to much? Anybody have any thoughts? Or advice ? Does that one foot really make a difference. I have an l4701. Thanks

If twisty and turny are in the mix, might want to stay at 6'. The tail wheel of a 7' would be about 9-10' behind you...

Where are you around Da Burgh,, and the only trails I know of are in Shenley Park,,lol.. 72 incher will be good for cutting trails be they for walking or bikeing or quads or setting up your deer stand. I am assuming your cutting in the woods, and the bigger you go the longer you go as a rule so moving between trees may be a problem

Yea I'm from the burg! Yinzer! But I have property up North . It's Field and woods and I been making trials with a small lawnmower. They need to be bigger so I think The comments here make sense and I'll go with the 72" it sounds like it will be more maneuverable. I been thinking that , but this forum is great for many things. Thanks everyone.

Good morning from Zelie (just kidding). You said trails and finish mower. When trails are mentioned the mower most mentioned is a bush hog / rotary mower.

I'm using a John Deere 272 3 point finish mower behind my L3400 and it's just right. A pass going and coming back is just the right width for a driving path. Wasn't sure the L3400 would have the horsepower to turn it in heavy grass, but it does it just fine.

Jbbepic, these fellow forum members are always bragging about their Paranha Tooth bars. If you need turning room, a good combination would be a Paranha tooth bar on the front and a Flail mower on the back.

Folks are not too familiar with the flails, but their excellent mowers, versatile for various cutting needs, and don't take up much space (either on or off the tractor).

I have used my brush hog to clear and make the trail. Now I'm looking to maintain it. Finish mower would seem appropriate.
