Got a question for 'old dog' parents:

My 12 YO female Standard poodle started on Librella shots about six months ago. Shortly after that she developed a urinary incontinence problem. It seemed to taper off over the month, then get worse for a couple weeks after each shot.

Anyone else's dog have a similar problem?

My vet started Izzy on Proin ER last month and so far it's working - no problem with incontinence so far. Hopefully that's 'problem solved.

We lost a dog one day after she was injected with Librella. Here is some known info on side affects.
(AI search results) Librela has been associated with several adverse effects in dogs, including neurological issues like ataxia and seizures, as well as gastrointestinal problems and urinary incontinence. In some cases, serious outcomes, including death, have been reported following its administration. FDA avma.org

Also some class action lawsuits have been filed against the MFG.

The are some risks with Librella, as any other med.

I have to say we had a girl that had a bad spay job done, and she we severely incontinent and every vet we went to said nothing could be done, then our latest vet said try this, Proin, it was a huge blessing.
She lived a long and happy life thanks to that.

The kid has 3 standard puddles she shows the youngest one between the horses and ranch I dont know how she does it. I will ask her about the Librella and see what her take on it is, one of her close friends is a Vet

Jim I just talked to the kido, and she gives it to her middle one with no side effects, and she says you have to monitor the pup, and with a puddle it aint an easy thing to do
