I found a Leon 490 for sale locally at a good price. From what I can find, it appears to be too big for my L1500, but I can't find any solid information for it. It looks like it is generally on ~25 hp tractors. I haven't measured anything up yet, but it doesn't really look too wide, just a little long and heavier than it needs to be. Can anyone confirm or deny my suspicion before I drive to go see it?

I think it's going to be a close match from what I can see.
It doesn't appear to be too big to do the job.

Just a note: You have taken into account that putting a FEL on a 2wd tractor without power steering is going to make it very hard to steer. ;)

A loader on a tractor without power steering isnt too bad to steer. Just make sure and have a good counter weight on the back end to offset the weight on the front.

It steers the same as an old vehicle without power steering. Turns fine without much effort as long as you got it rolling ;)

It's trying to steer with it stopped that is the issue :)

Well I came home with it's along with a valve and mounts for a Belarus 250 for $500. It's been off the tractor for 15 years and the bucket is in rough shape. It's a 5 foot bucket. I was hoping for narrower but I'll see how I like it and cuts it down if needed. The Belarus 250 was smaller than I thought it would be. I thought it would be the size of a wd. It looks like it will be about the right size except for the bucket. Thanks Darren and NIW.

And yes this added me to the list of people one here who generally advise against getting a loader for tractors such as theirs. Who go out and buy them anyway.

Many of the Belarus tractors were fitted with self leveling loaders. I think many of them were fitted with Allied brand loaders.

No matter what is is, or it's condition, you can make it fit. It's the same process as your mother did when she made the dress for your sister's prom. A little here, and a little there....and it's all dolled up. Have fun. Post some pictures.

The Belarus had Nortrack stickers on it but Belarus stampings. I think they were sold by Northern Tool in the 80s.
