So, as I've mentioned a couple times on others' threads...I just ROP mounted a front facing lightbar, 2 rear facing spots and a top flashing unit. It's almost like daytime when it's dark out.

I'll be doing most of my snowblowing in the dark. Front mounted on a BX2380

I have an extra lightbar. I wish I could recall the dimensions, but it's under 2 feet long...probably one of those 19" ones.

Has anyone ever mounted a lightbar to the side of the chute, so wherever the chute is pointed, that's where the (most of the) light goes? I do realize that the snow comes out as an arc, so wherever I aim it, the light won't be perfectly placed. I have a couple places where I fire snow near the house and near cars and so that's why I am asking about that.

The only other place I feel I need more light is alongside both sides of the tractor, but a big lightbar won't solve that issue. Couple of tiny spots ought to solve that ok.

Thanks---Mike in NB

Mike - - blown a lot of snow with front-mount blower.

My BX 8 years and a JD425 for 12 years before that.

I'm not optimistic that the LED up there will give you much more than distractions.

Glare, light bar covered with snow, etc.

That all said, I have just 4 small LED's up over my ROPS. The lights way up are VERY handy. Never had a need for more.

My suggestion is try a session or two with the blower. Then figure out where it could help, even it were a temporary install for the winter season. I take mine off each spring. I would tear them off mowing.

I mounted a couple of spot lights on the rear of the cab pointed diagonally to the front. They work very good for me and I also blow snow in the dark. I also had to replace the OEM front lights with LED's. I think if you mount the lights too close to the blowing snow they might get covered with snow taking away most of the benefit. I'm sure someone has tried it and may chime in with experience. I included a picture. If you blow it up you can see the lights better. I feel like I'm lit up like a little village in the dark.

On youtube, search for Paul Short and LED snowblower lights.
These are individual lights on each side not a single light bar.

I did something similar to this on mine last year. It does make a difference and I did not have any issues, that I recall, with them getting snow build up. They do produce some heat.

I did not go as crazy with lights like he did, I am not on public roads enough to need it.
