I am unsure weather to mount my additional 12 lamp leds on the front grill guard or on the rops. They will primarily be used for mowing and I take my loader off when mowing. What are your opinions.

Mount your lights to a piece of 3/4 wood and use a c clamp to mount to your rops or grill guard. Use a temporary wire from the battery and see which gives you the most light for what you are doing. Then mount permanent.

On a car you want to see 100+ yds down the road. On a tractor you want to see 0 to 10 yds right in front of the tractor. I like my led flood light high on the cab to light up the ground in front of the tractor, and even pointed down to light up the ground the LED floods will provide more light out in front of the tractor then the factory head lights.

I went with rops 6 inch in the front and moved my smaller 3 inch ones up to
You might want to turn the lights over move them below the rops to protect them from tree branches and low doorways.

Bust one or two will give me motivation to get out there and trim branches. Couple weeks I won't have to worry about doors my building will be going up. Also was hoping that being a little higher might help keeps bugs higher and out of my face

Must be nice to have bugs that are attracted to the lights, up here the only thing that attracts the bugs is blood.

I mow in the evenings and if I'm bot working the next day I won't stop if I gets dark. Better than being out in 90 plus heat with high humidity baking I don't have much tree cover on my fields.

I'm pretty use to bugs I have a boat with 900 watts of led lights about 100,000 lumens I use for fishing I've been in bugs so bad you couldn't see the water from the deck of the boat and it's only a Jon boat

x2

I've mowed my pasture at night a few times. The weather is cooler and I get to enjoy the stars. For now I only have the headlights, but I've been watching this thread to come up with how I'll eventually mount lights on my ROPS.

I mow around the house with the zero turn and that needs to be done in the daylight.

You can always go crazy and make this! :D
Wow, that's a lot of lighting! I replaced the OEM work lights with 54w spot / flood combos, which really light up wide angle front and rear. I may add some smaller side lights like you have for nighttime plowing or snowblowing. Fully lit I am drawing about 30 amps, but I really only use the OEM headlights on the road.

Hey guys, what source are you tapping into and from your experience how much LED load can you put on the stock setup? I have a BX23S.

-edit

I am looking for a thread already created for this.

I've found the claimed wattage to be overstated in many cases. Recently measured the current draw on several different LED flood lamps. These were the generic 18, 27 and 36 watt varieties found on Amazon and elsewhere under various names. The light output is dramatic compared to the stock halogen lamps.

Current draw for each lamp was measured using 12.60 supply voltage. Below are the test results per work light, so if using them in pairs the values would need to be doubled.

Claimed Watts___Actual Watts___Amps/Light___# of LED's
___18_____________9.5__________0.75__________6
___27____________14.5__________1.18__________9
___36____________26.0__________2.06_________12

Over the last two years I have been using the 18W and 27 W units on my JD Gator and as backup lights on a number of vehicles. Out of 10 units I've had one go bad due to moisture and salt intrusion (auxiliary backup lights mounted off the trailer hitch). The failed unit was replaced under warranty.

These lights are inexpensive at <$25 per pair.

If you chose 4 of the 27 watt units (2 front facing and 2 rearward) you'll be drawing less than 5 amps and have more light than you need. Keep in mind a pair 55 watt halogen bulb consumes approximately 8 amps and the auxiliary lamp circuit is designed to handle this.

(Example: https://www.amazon.com/KAWELL-K2-2027-fishing-Driving-Waterproof/dp/B00LBP43FG/ref=pd_day0_263_11?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00LBP43FG&pd_rd_r=DAA7JNHQ8PQ9QYD11AVM&pd_rd_w=9gb1A&pd_rd_wg=Zzz91&psc=1&refRID=DAA7JNHQ8PQ9QYD11AVM

There are more stylish lights out there, but these work.

I put 2 54 watt forward facing and 2 18 watt led facing rear an it is awesome. I've been using the Cree led lights on plow trucks I build for people for about 3 years and not a single problem yet well worth the money. Did a 60 inch on the front of a customer's combine and he has been happy with it.

I am about to mount LED floods to the inside of my ROP. Don't think that I should drill thru the rop to mount the light brackets.
Any pics out there of your fab brackets
tks
