I scanned the topics and didn't see a thread about gauges for older units. Recently purchased a L285 and the tachometer seems to be fairly accurate and working, but the temp gauge IS NOT. Being as old as it is and Positive ground, I am not finding much on the 2nd hand market or even for new. I would like suggestions for gauges or recommendations on maybe switching it to Negative ground, whereby I could then use aftermarket gauges for oil pressure and ammeter.

Thank you,

Hello,

could you post a picture of the gauge?

I assume you have checked that the sensor is working correctly and the cables are good.

What I did in the past is using a more modern gauge and transferring the mechanical insides into the old housing and using the old needle.

You can get the gauge from the dealer. Messicks shows it is around $110

There may be a change in part number for a serial number break and there are a couple of different models so the part number I looked at might be incorrect but it was 33400-75692

Thank you,
Kubota's are not Positive ground, if the tractor is hooked up as a positive ground that would be why you having issues.
Also need to check the alternator as it will have killed it or the regulator.
