This is nutz, I went looking for lamp oil just incase the power goes out and I have trouble with the old gen set. I mean how hard can it be to find lamp oil?
Seemingly it is impossible to find it around here. Lowes, Home Depot, TS , RK, Target. hardware stores,, nada. Yeah I know I can maybe find a gallon of Kerosene, but that dont smell to good, like a light diesel,, not nice!
And the sad part is asking people that work in the stores, and you get the deer caught inthe head light look.
How far down the rabbit hole have we come?
And yes I know amazon has it but thats a PIA as well. Ahh well the search continues.
Yall have a nice rainy afternoon

I use kerosene in my kero lanterns and lamp oil in my refillable wicked "candles" that I made.

I can't smell any odor from the kerosene lanterns.

My lamp oil gets bought at the Amish hardware store in Shipshewana.

I bought mine at Tractor Supply in Roseau MN last month.
5gal pail just less than $60 but I use a substitute called 1-K Fuel Grade Kerosene which label says is suitable for indoor lamps as its purified vs non purified kerosene.

One time I filled an all clear glass lamp with regular kerosene and forgot about it. A long time after that I noticed the clear glass reservoir was coated in a darker sort of varnish-looking stuff.

Hobby Lobby has it. Web Restaurant store too. Probably safer than the [probably leaded] version at the Chinazon

Get the citronella tiki torch fuel. It works well and usually can be found in garden shops or Walmart.

I am having a similar problem. All my lamps have electrical cords and I can't find any place that sells electrons.

If you’re web searching local places before driving all over, don’t look for lamp oil, look for oil lamps. They cost more so they’ll be easier to find due to marketing of the more expensive product. Wherever they sell oil lamps, they’ll sell the oil to go in the lamps.

If all else fails and you have a WalMart nearby but they don’t stock it, order it ship to store so you don’t have to pay shipping and go pick it up.

In their defense, I might suggest that in the day of cheap efficient LED lamps, they might have thought you weren't too bright... :ROFLMAO:

I did however find a quart at TS, for 6 bucks, and a quart at Hobby Lobby for 8, one is refined Kerosene, and the other is Paraffin oil. It seems I got the last 2 bottles, both places say they were flying off the shelf,, wonder why ?

Can you find K1 Kerosene at the pump? That is pure indoor heating grade and does not smell. When I used to live in Waynesboro, PA that is all I heated with and it was cheap. Granted, that was 36 yeas ago but I would bet that it can still be bought in bulk at a fuel distributor.
