Since I bought my BX2230 and having to do maintenance and repairs on it, I wanted to make a safety stop for the loader. So, Saturday after installing a new air bag on the rear axle of my Transcraft stepdeck, I decided it was time to make one up.
For the tube, I used a 13.5" long piece of 1.5" square 11ga tube. I cut one side out with my plasma cutter so it would slip over the ram. On one end I took a 1" flat washer and cut a section out, making a big "C", so it would also slide over the ram. For the end of the ram with the pin, I took a 1.5" shaft collar, removed the set screw, mounted on a 1.5" aluminum shaft, made sure it's square and cut it in two on the band saw. I took one of the narrower collars and cut out the area for the set screw, about 15° or 20°, then cut the remaining piece in two equal pieces. Then I welded the "C" washer to one end of the tube and the collar segments to the other end. Even after I tried wire brushing and bead blasting the cad plating off the washer and collar, it still gave me fits when I MIG welded it together, so don't look at the welds closely. They're Gorilla welds, ugly but tough.

Now I can put this in place when I need to work under the front of the tractor without trying to get a 4 X 4 to stand up while I lower the bucket on it.

I even built a second one for a friend who has a BX just like mine, who had mentioned making a similar stop.

VERY nice! You haven’t mentioned the procedure but will you gently lower the loader against the prop (with engine off) so it stays firmly planted?

Yep, just lower it onto the stop and you're safe.

Doesn't matter if the engine is off or not, just lower the loader until the end of the cylinder contacts the stop.

I don't know if it would bend the stop if you put full pressure on it, but I doubt it given the small size of the cylinder.
