LAST year I had a $1000 worth of work done on my L5740 HST...to replace a plate that held the cable assembly for the PTO shifter. The plate only cost $75. And is located on the right side of the behind the rear wheel. it is not easy to get to. When the Kubota Dealer was done with that...I loaded it up and hauled it home to use it...ever since then I can not keep it in high speed mode..it continually shifts to turtle mode. no matter what range I am in. I have had it back to the dealer...they have worked on it...and there is no improvement. Everything seems to work fine...except the tractor only runs in the low speed mode. It is a pain, to say the least... I am not sure what they did that has caused this ...nor am I sure there is a link between the two actions. Mostly I just want to get my tractor fixed. The dealer has no idea what to do...I am just supposed to haul the tractor 80 miles to them and wait for them to start replacing parts until they can get it to work. Today...I ordered the B10402 Switch...located on the steering column and I will replace that myself to see what that does.. If that does not work ...I will haul it back to the dealer. Has anyone run into this situation before. Thank you all very much

Is the lever moving or is the tractor down shifting on it's own ? If it is down shifting on it's own, try turning off the stall guard, and the auto downshift, and see what happens.

Sound similar to my son's L3940HST-3 in that it randomly shifts from high to low and vice versa. Now the turtle light and the Auto HDS light are not working. I've been able to get it to do a few times. I need to watch more closely and see if it the turtle light is actually going off. I used it to clean the feedlot off this morning and finally just turned off Stall Guard and the Auto Throttle and set the engine to about 2000 rpm's and went with it. Been meaning to ask the question on here what exactly controls the drop back from high to low and vice versa. I wonder if it's it's computer controlled, relays, solenoids, hydraulic or what? This tractor has been bulletproof and has almost 2900 hours on it, no repairs as of now, bought new.

It appears to be the ECU. But what triggers the ECU, I am not sure, probably a combination of engine rpm and transmission pressures. There also appears to be a hst swashplate sensor and a hst pedle sensor.

I've been searching trying to find something about this. These tractors are really pretty bulletproof and it shows because there's very little info out there about problems like these. This hasn't even had the fan belt replaced in almost 2900 hours. Until lately it's been used everyday on a feedlot to run round bales to the cattle. I told them sometime ago to get a backup so they bought a L4060 and they're glad they did. The L3940 is still going but we need to figure out what's going on with it.

Look at this thread, sounds like an electrical issue

Cleaning all the electrical contacts between the hst pedal and the servos worked for me
