Hello Fellow Orange Folks,
Long time reader and short time owner of the Orange machines. I've recently acquired a new to me L5240 HST non-cab machine. Couldn't be happier with my purchase as it suits our needs perfectly on our small operation. Showing 2500+ hours of moderate use it has its fair share of nicks and dings, but the performance it fantastic for its age. All the bits and pieces work, except for the PTO display on the dash. The PTO is engaged with the manual lever to the right of the operators station and it spins right up and works properly, but the digital dash display reads the PTO is off, and the orange sissy light does not illuminate either.
I recently had it in the shop to install a rear remote, and questioned the service writer about looking into the issues. Their response was 400 buck to even start looking at it, and absolutely no guarantee that they could identify the issue inside that estimate, much less a solution.
So, I prefer to maintain my equipment myself and figured to give it a shot starting here. I'll profess I do not have any service manuals on this model. I've maintained my smaller BX2200 and other larger, different colored machines, for many years and I'm comfortable wrenching until I have to start splitting tractors.
My layman opinion is there is a sensor somewhere that is not engaging to indicate to the dash that all is working. The manual level to operate the PTO obviously works fine, as the PTO spins right up when engaged. If there are any tech types geniuses out there that would be able to give me some guidance and possibly a starting point, it would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help and I look forward to any responses to get me started.
On a side note, on the dash display it is showing a service indicator on the LCD display. All the fluids were replaced when I purchased it about 25 hrs ago, so I don't think it needs actual fluid attention, and may possibly be just a reminder message that shows up after X amount of hours. If you have any insight to that as well, it would be duly noted and appreciated.
