Hello all. I just acquired an L4610 that had been abandoned for 7 years outside in a field. It had no hydraulic pump, and the loader had been removed and left aside.
I’ve been cleaning it up for the last couple of weeks and installed a new pump and many new hoses have been replaced.
I replaced all the filters and have changed all the fluids. The machine fired right up with the new battery and runs well and steers well. I have removed the relief valve and cleaned it and the screen filter in the case. I just don’t seem to have any pressure at the control valve?? Original owner said the loader worked fine when he pulled it apart except the old pump leaked fluid.
Any advice would be welcome. I am a stubborn old fart and I hate it when I can’t figure things out. Thanks in advance for your thoughts… Ricktech

Its a simple hydraulic system. Start by checking pump output.

Take the inlet hose off the loader valve and stick it in a bucket. Start the engine and you should get oil flowing into the bucket. Immediately shut the engine off or you will pump all the oil out.

If you did not get oil either the pump is not working or you have the plumbing mixed up.

One pump for external hydraulic power and steering both or two pumps involved?

I have no idea on that tractor, but you mentioned that the steering is fine.

If Dan’s test results in no flow out of the hose you might investigate if the pump is being driven from the engine properly or if the drive from the engine is broken or not meshed with the pump input shaft. (Assuming the pump is mounted on the engine).

If no flow first thing I would check is to see if the selector valve on the hydraulic outlet block is in the loader position. If it is I would then verify the hose is connected to the pump port on the outlet block.

I’ll check out the outlet block first thing in the morning. Thanks for the info
Well. You sure earned my thanks on that suggestion. I had no idea about the select valve. I’m a happy owner now! Also on the bright side, I was able to repair several other potential issues while trying to sort out the hydraulics. Thanks again

Downloaded the WSM parts 1 and 2, plus the owner's manual, thank you Dan (TheOldHokie).

Any idea where I can find the operator's manual for the RC72-29A belly mower? Any other manuals to be on the lookout for?

I got a PDF file copy of the operator manual for my tractor and deck from my local Kubota dealer after spending days on the internet without having any success.

Hi Hugo, thanks for the suggestion. I noted Dan (TheOldHokie) shared links (above) to the workshop manual (parts 1 and 2) plus the owner's manual. Meanwhile, I've scored the exploded views/parts breakdown for the mower deck - but - I still lack an operator's manual for the deck.

Basically, I'm seeking to learn the approved way of removing/installing and adjusting the deck for operation. Found a video on YouTube where a fellow used his loader to prop the front wheels off the ground to create clearance to roll his deck beneath it. Problem is, a) my deck's only got castors in front versus the deck the guy had which had 4 castors (which let it roll around easily), and b) I don't have a loader!

However, I do have a forklift. So because I just bought two new turf tires for the front, then while they're off for mounting, my plan is to take advantage of the additional clearance this creates to uninstall the deck (unless my calibrated eyeballs are way off, it's not coming out whilst the four wheels are on the ground).

Reason for this is I want to go through it (blades, belt, gear oil level) before putting it to work this season for the first time in my care. My understanding is the seller hasn't used it in a considerable period of time (and it looks very good so no reason to not believe him). Said he preferred a brush hog, which also came with it. However, as luck would have it, the gearbox failed spectacularly the other day. Broke the gearbox's case in the process (I had just begun mowing and the shear bolt let go). Grass was NOT high, so it was under a very light load. No clue why.

Anyway, repairing it was uneconomical. While I located a replacement gearbox on eBay, because the deck also needed patching in several places (before this happened, I planned to buy 10GA sheet metal and just weld up a new one using the old one as a template), I ended up going to the street, unhooking the deck and placing a sign stating FREE. It was gone inside of 6 hours.

So I'm still seeking an operating manual for an RC72-29A.
