I am brand new here - looking at buying my first Kubota tractor.

I was trying to avoid the new emissions stuff required on the diesel engines. I located a "left over" brand new L4600. The brochure says that the L4600 has a new 4 cyl diesel engine that meets the EPS's interim Tier4 regulations. Does that mean it has all of the newer emission control stuff on the engine and it will have to do that exhaust regen stuff ?

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

Dan

ps there is a $3000 difference between the left over - brand new L4600 and a brand new L3901 that will for sure have the new emissions "stuff" and apparently have to do the exhaust regren stuff.

My dealer told me as long as it is below 26 HP it does not have the DPF stuff. Cannot hurt to read more about them and decide from there.

Yes I have been told the same - however the tractors I am looking at - the "L" series are all over 26 HP. I was told that is one of the major reasons the RTV engine has been kept under 26 HP. The additional stuff affects performance and price.

Thanks

The L4600 is proven OK, and you'll have that $3000 to buy a nice implement....

The left over L4600 is $3000.00 more than a current model L3901.

The L4600 is about 8 additional horsepower, over the L3901, a 4 cyl vs 3 cyl. The L3901 has all the new emissions stuff on it while the L4600 does not.

I was originally looking to buy a L3800 but there are n more of them available, only the newer L3901 with all the new emissions stuff. I am just trying to decide if it's worth the extra $3,000 to get a tractor with the additional horsepower and without the new emissions "stuff".

Decisions ....decisions

I mis-understood the way the $3000 went. Still, I'd get the L4600. I'm sure you will be happy to miss whatever the new line does to your tractor.

I would go for the L4600. I bought my L3200 before all the new emissions stuff went through. 4600 will have plenty of power to get the job done!

4600 no question. It's larger, more lift capacity, smoother running 4 cylinder vs 32/33/38/39 3 cylinder, larger tires more weight, and it becomes a 2014 machine when you buy it. No such thing as a leftover tractor

I recently went through this same descision,I bought the 4600,and I am very glad I did! The 4600 is a lot of tractor for the price I paid, and I don't have to worry about extra emisions junk to go wrong on the tractor.

Although the MX5100 is a better option for the same price as the 4600. A much better option.
I looked at the 5100 also,it was a nice tractor, but was almost a $4000 price difference and was a turbo engine,I want as least as possible to be able to go wrong with a tractor, and a turbo is a repair waiting to happen.I went that route already with Ford diesels. But they are nice tractors.

+2. I don't know if your familiar with diesel emissions but they are horrid for use and pre emissions anything car, truck, tractor, generator always hold a very high resale.
