I have an L3830 GST 4WD with approximately 1700 hours. The tractor has performed flawlessy until recently. I noticed a few days ago while operating a 60 inch tiller, that the tiller would drag to little or no RPM when lower into the ground. After a time in the ground it would return to operations at the proper RPM. I checked the tiller and found no discrepancies. I spoke with my local dealer and a local tractor mechanic, both indicated they thought the PTO clutch was slipping and should be replaced or rebuilt. I adjusted the linkage and troubleshot the system according the operator's manual with no change. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Have you tried the tractor with a different implement on it to see if it has the same problem? Just a thought, does your tiller have a slipper clutch that is acting up? I would eliminate everything else before tearing into the tractor. You might get lucky.
