I've been lurking for a while but now I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. Please tell me what you think.

2014 L3800 with 450hours. It was put into my dealers 'rental fleet' in 2015 so the owner could use it at his cranberry farm. It was only rented out twice on weekends with a rototiller. Other than that it was used on the owners cranberry bog to pull the hose reels around a couple times a year. It has barely had a workout. The unit has been outside its whole life. The loader is a little sunfaded but barely scratched from use.

Included is 2 rear remotes, cruise, and filled tires. I'm having them add a 3rd function for a grapple. They are going to swap out the seat for a new seat. I'm going to use it to clear snow around the house(maybe a future snowblower), also moving firewood up at the cabin and to put in some food plots.

I was looking at a 3901 but I'm hesitant about getting it up north and have problems with the tier 4 emissions. I'm thinking this would be simple a easy to maintain. We worked out a price of $19,400. What do you think?

Personally I feel thats high. There has been very little documented issues with L series DPF.

Id you like to lug tractor, and idle often as I do, the DPF might not be the way to go. I would personally choose the L3800 over the L3901, however, 0% for 84 months is a great incentive to go new.

MadMax31,
I think the rear remotes and a third function would add a lot to the price of this tractor.

wiltff,
I have been using my L3901DT here in Missouri to do firewood during the winter months and haven't had any problems with the regens. I had it out a couple of time when in was in the low teens and no problem with the regens.

Like MadMax31 said, if you plan on idling the tractor a lot, the newer L's aren't for you. But if you work them hard and keep the RPM's up you won't have any problems.

I just doug out the paperwork on my L3800 tractor. I bought it April 2013.
The L3800 HST-loaded rear tires-no rear remotes-no cruise control-pretty much stock-$17,640.
The LA524 Loader-$4200.
Total=$21,840.
And mine has 230 hrs on it now. I looked at the oil filter the other day. 4/21/16 -187 hrs. A very very hot summer here. I really didn't use it much.

For the price they are asking. I'd buy new, shop several dealers and deal with the 4teir crap and KNOW the history of the machine because you've put every hour on it. Just my 2 cents.

Have you looked at TractorHouse.com ? I see they have a L3800 in Indiana with loader -98 hrs -$18,250.
And lots of other low hour tractors there.

I'm still looking around at other places. I'm going to talk to the dealer tomorrow and tell them to sharpen their pencil and work on the price. The unit is so very clean.

I appreciate the advice and I will update you when a decision is made. Thanks

I would be very leery of any tractor that was use in a bog.
Water can get into some odd locations and cause some odd damage.

The L's with tier 4 are pretty stable no real issues to note.

The price is too high especially if its a DT (geared) model, you didn't say.

Update. Just sat down after 16 hour day driving to pick up a tractor in Ohio. Details: 2014 L3800 HST w/ 260 hours. Very clean unit, kept indoors it's whole life. Includes the quick detach 66" bucket with cutting edge, Bobcat brand 42" fork set, cruise control, filled tires, a landpride 58" rototiller, a single tooth ripper for the 3pt, and a raised bed disc attachment. $17,500.

Thanks for all the help in my search.

I cleaned up some snow banks this evening. Very nice. I'm impressed. Now I need to look for a snow plow and a cab. Love it.

Once your a** stops aching from the drive you'll realize what a great deal AND a great machine you've bought. Just got through unloading a trailer truck with mine. Congrats.
