... new to me! I had asked about parts availability a short while back. After much scratching my head and more reading, I decided to buy it. Had to do a little work (natch) but it is a really solid tractor. Has lots of blowby coming out the tube, (I'm working on that) but exhaust runs clean after a couple minutes, and more importantly under load. Has plenty of power, and pops right off without preheating.

I have found and installed all the parts I need (seat, fuel bowl/filter, etc. ) only thing I'm missing yet is the compression spring for the shuttle lever lock. I found the pin on Ebay of all places, got the roll pin and knob from Messick's along with many other incidentals. From what I can eyeball, it seems like a spring with ID of 1/4" / 6mm and length about 2" should be about right. Does that sound right to you fellas?

Also, anything you think I should know about operating would be most appreciated; I'm just getting familiar with it.

Thank you!

I bought the big brother L4150DT a couple years ago, and as I understand it, they are nearly identical except for size/power. They also share a factory repair manual. I had a restore thread going for my 4150.

One thing to know about these is you have to be somewhat religious about changing the hydraulic filter. The lining on the rear wet brakes flakes off and starts to clog the filter over time.

That's great to know, thanks! I'll be hitting Napa again.
