Just cooked the aux pump for my 1720 loader. Since it is not available anymore
Does anybody have solutions other than running on trans or pto. BTW the housing split the whole length of the pump so I assume a rebuild is not an option.

It would help if you posted a photo. Splitting a pump housing sounds like a serious plumbing problem resulting in the pump being dead headed.

There has to be more of this story and before you get another pump, best to understand what went wrong.

If this split pump was driven from the front engine pulley, finding a substitute should be easy.

Hello
I have changed a lot of these over to run off the tractor Hydraulic***8217;s.Most people are happy with them. Yes it is not as fast as the front pump. Have you tried taking your old pump to the good hydraulic shop. You should be able to find a replacement. Kubota may not supplying it any longer. Switching it over to run off the tractor just requires two hoses and the adapter block .
Good Luck Lance

Does the L355 have the splined shaft off of the front of the engine? You may be able to use almost any PTO pump with a spline adaptor.

Is it possible you ran into something with the pump?

Otherwise, the pump was dead headed. This means its output was blocked in some way without a relief valve protecting it.

A pump for the rear pto won't adapt to the front of the L355ss engine (wrong fit, wrong speed). The L355ss pump coupling has fine splines on the engine end and a 3/4" keyed bore for the pump on the other. Cheap pump example here. Best to verify your pump's actual shaft diameter before ordering. Get a CCW 3000 psi pump with around 1 cubic inch displacement. Dick B

Edited the link in post above to point to a CCW pump (viewed from the shaft end).

BTW a 1 cu in gear pump makes approx 8-1/2 gpm at 2000 engine rpm. similar to other K loaders in this size range.

Yes,it “dead headed”. Previous owner installed a aux hydraulic line to the rear with a valve to divert pressure. I bumped the knob with my forearm diverting fluid from the loader to the rear ( with no bypass). I heard a pop and that was that. Since I use the tractor primarily to load trucks, speed is a necessity. Before buying this tractor I test drove ones with the loader running on the trans pump and found them brutally slow. Thanks everyone for the input as I pursue a replacement pump.

Now that you see how fast and how serious a bad plumbing job are, now is the time to add a pressure relief valve to the output close to the pump.

Wont be expensive. A Tee in the line and at the end of the Tee the relief valve dumping excess pressure back into the oil reservoir.

A sample but not a suggested product.
