Sounds like you damaged the internals of the cylinder, be it seals or a piston.

If the cylinder was bypassing internally wouldn’t it do it both directions while under load?
that's what i was thinking, if the cylinder is messed up the boom wouldn't work great one way and not the other, going to put a new filter on it today and pick up that 486.00 valve but do more research before installing it.. however a guy on youtuube had the same deal and the valve fixed it.. well see

So i went to the kabota dealer today and talked to the machanic, he said the ram might be messed up inside and only working one way under pressure, that valve rarely go's bad but i can take the valve appart and clean it and look for any piece of O-ring, dirt or something else that could be keeping it open.. so for them to rebuild the ram will be 200. and done the same day so i will do that since i know it has a leak and replace the hyd filter and clean that valve before replacing it. he says that the valve spring inside could be bad, of course you can't just buy the spring or a kit.. you can only buy the damn thing! nice guy though trying to help.

Have you checked your "control" linkages attached to each joystick? You'll have to take off the panel covering them up on your backhoe. One of the ones on my BH77 became loose and acted up very similar to your situation. An easy fix to reintsatll/tighten up and all was back to normal. Something to check, at least.

A broken piston will do exactly that, work one way, and not the other.

yes, all the linkage is hooked up the way it should be and move's freely and works nice, all lubed..

Got an update.. got the ram cylinder back from kabota and the guy only charged me 47.00 but no change it's working the same way! so i took the valve releaf off and cleaned it and same thing, then i noticed that there was 2 valve's on top and the bottom so i removed the other one and found a piece of torn o-ring inside but the o-ring was still whole just the torn piece was binding up the valve sleeve.. so went back to kabota for a o-ring and got something that was close because they don't list it by itself, only with the damn valve. so got home! the sleeve still seemed to work ok but seemed alittle loose so i desided you know what.. i'm going to switch them up because i'd rather have the boom work forward that backward to use it so i did and tryed it! everything works fine now WOW.. go figure!! and both valves are really easy to get to! so now i get to return that 486.00 new valve, the o'l L35 is back !!
