Re: L345DT Transmission fluid....me too! sort of
I've got an L245 and just changed mine this weekend. I too looked in the manual and found 80W listed. I thought that sounded thick but I checked a viscosity chart (attached). The universal transmission fluid (UDT) has a Saybolt viscosity @ 100F of 400 which correlates to an 80W gear oil. Interesting. I also checked with the dealer and they recommended a UDT. So, I traipse off to my TSC and gather up 26 quarts. I drained from both transmission ports, and both final drives. A lot of oil! I then removed and replaced the filter screen and o-ring. All is well in my world....I thought.
I tighten all the plugs, wipe up any excess oil, and hit the starter.............ugh!
It labored to even get started and really seems burdened. Almost flooded. The hydraulics now have a slight high pitched whine, and the 3-point lift doesn't work. I'm scratching my head.
