L3400 PTO Disengages when not under load

had this tractor for a few years, I noticed last year the PTO w/ snowblower on 3pt, would disengage frequently when not under load. Snowblowing works fine

When is disengages, simply push in the clutch and move the PTO lever back and forth and its good to go

I am thinking adjustment ?

There is ZERO adjustment to that setup.
The detent ball is what holds it in the engaged and disengaged position.
You could remove the bolt seal spring and ball (could have ball or spring damage).
Other than that, It would take splitting it to find out what else could be wrong.

thanks for the reply, much appreciated, I will have a look...I should also mention when it does disengage its kind of gradual with increasing rattling noise

Worn or Broken internal parts.
Fix it now before it causes other damage.
If it's slow to spin that's a clutch issue, get the WSM and try adjusting the clutch.

Is your tractor HST or manual/gear transmission? Also, do you have a "date" when it was purchased or the first 2 serial numbers? Like below 57,xxx?

I'm guessing that if you have HST and was purchased in 2004/05/ or very early 06. You might have worn out CAMS... let me know and we can talk more.
